Article source: M+R interior architecture This year (2016) opened the Shapes Experience Center in Utrecht; a presentation space where architects, designers and end-users can be inspired in the field of decorative sheets, ceiling solutions, wall coverings, flooring and lighting. There is an extensive library of samples and collection of books. Also, events and training courses are organized. The Shapes Experience Center is an initiative of RET interior, Astrimex, Bruijnzeel, Leoxx and Flos. There are also shown products include Rockfon Kronospan, Gyproc and Armstrong.
The concept and design of SHAPES is done by M+R interior architecture. We used the lotus and the chameleon as design inspiration; the Lotus flower as a metaphor that stands for purity and beauty and the chameleon’s with it’s ability to adapt and diversity. The Lotus flower is shaped like three sculptural elements composed of decor sheet, these objects slowly turning around. The color space is divided into so-called “slides”, each slide representing a color of the overall spectrum with different material applications and solutions. The design of the joinery is done in a straight line, and situated perpendicular to the wall presentations. Contact M+R interior architecture
