Inspired by the local vernacular architecture, House in countryside type C is one of four sustainable houses designed by Renato Pucci from Archilea architecture studio and the local architect Giovanni Carignani for the town of Capannori, in the landscape of Toscana (Italy).

The goal was to design a modern and efficient house surrounded by a big garden, near the Visona creek for a single family.

The dwelling takes advantage of its peaceful and isolated location to allow the programs to maximize natural light and the view of the landscape.

The outdoor areas provide a generous space for relaxation and recreation and a big winter garden allow the inhabitants not only to reduce energy requirement but also to benefit of a fantastic common space, especially during winter, facing the big garden and the pool.

The exterior skin is simple with no decoration; the white color of the walls contrasts with the wooden color of the doors and windows and with the natural environments that surrounded the house.

The interior features carefully chosen pieces of stylish and minimalist furniture, with materials including wood, concrete and natural stone.

Special attention, during the design project, was paid to the sustainability: the orientation of the house allows to have more than 70% of the glazing surfaces facing south. The natural materials of the walls (straw) provide a strong thermal isolation allowing to reduce energy requirement and providing an optimal therm-hygrometric wellness.

The structure of the house is a wooden frame.

Additional electricity would come from photovoltaic panels on the rooftops and any excess power could be fed back into the national grid.
