Sumit Singhal
Sumit Singhal loves modern architecture. He comes from a family of builders who have built more than 20 projects in the last ten years near Delhi in India. Article source: Studio di Architettura Claude Petarlin The main aspect the attention of this project was focused upon, was the pursuit of the characterization of the living area, which was rethought according to the “coating” of the existing central pillar. The identification of the new “appearance,” has made it possible to determine and distinguish two specific living areas and to create at the same time a new volume / container which services the TV area. New recessed light fixtures and “blades” of indirect light, consisting of hidden LED strips have been installed. New flooring made of knotty oak has also made it possible to level out the spaces which were previously fragmented by continuous visual discontinuities, determined by the different floor surfaces. All the service areas have been modernized thanks to the use of new materials and surfaces, such as the use of large slabs of porcelain stoneware and coloured enamels. I graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of Venice, under the supervision of Prof. Sergio Los, with a thesis in the study of civic architectural features of the buildings. I passed the state exam for the professional qualification and since April 3rd 2001 I am registered at No. 1358 of the Order of Architects of the Province of Vicenza. After working with some professional architectural firms,I started my own firm in 2003 and since then I dedicate myself to the design of new buildings, to renovations and interior design, and occasionally to Object Design.  Image Courtesy © Studio di Architettura Claude Petarlin Every assignment of the firm, be it the design of a new building, a restoration or a remodeling of interiors, is an opportunity to share ideas and experiences in synergy with the client, with the understanding that the contemporary architectural design requires to abandon any working methods based on intuition alone, to reach instead methods which call for responsible design.  Image Courtesy © Studio di Architettura Claude Petarlin I believe that sustainability, which is so much talked about nowadays, must be part of a technical, creative and economic process, aimed at obtaining the well-being both of the individual and the environment. I express these concepts through a multidisciplinary approach to the project; from this point of view, leaving the role of levying arbitrary and subjective choices, the goal is to provide, among the “infinite possibilities”, sure and certain answers to the needs and expectations that the same context requires, whilst targeting at the same time a final result, a visible one, one apparently made of space but also of substantial textures, tactile experiences and chromatic quality of the surfaces.
