Raadhuis in Krimpen aan den IJssel, The Netherlands by Fokkema & Partners ArchitectenJanuary 6th, 2017 by Sumit Singhal
Article source: Fokkema & Partners Architecten Fokkema & Partners developed the interior design for the new – energy neutral – City Hall of Krimpen with an energy label A++. A welcoming entrance invites citizens to visit the City Hall for the services in the public area, which have open counters with a view through the building and to water around it. Flexibility fits the new way of working in the City Hall, which translates to a large diversity of workplaces and ways to arrange various spaces.
The custom made furniture is based on the flexible and sustainable concept of combining loose elements that can be stacked. Throughout the building these elements form high tables, pantries and wall cabinets. Fresh colours and warm materials used in the interior complement the exterior of the building, cladded with a beige stone. Special attention in the design has been paid to the council chamber which also serves as a wedding hall. The arrangement of the joinery items in combination with the friendly atmosphere makes it easy to combine both functionalities. The council chamber is transparent to the adjacent square. To link the interior design of the hall to the municipality, Fokkema & Partners designed a special acoustic tapestry in collaboration with Horizon Creative, demonstrating the surrounding landscape of Krimpen aan den IJssel. Interior design for the Town Hall in a sustainable and transparent setting. The scope includes the complete public area and back office with a flexible workplace concept.
