Article source: okuwada architects office The site given by the client couple was on the steep hillside in Takaraduka, Hyogo. It was compose of almost steep hill facing South and little flat area, the scenery from the top was magnificent, so are the fresh wind and cozy sunlight.
The planning concept was using this incline wisely to appreciate the beautiful external elements, and the request from the Client was so simple; An interesting house with a big closet. I started with plotting the big closet buried into North side of the hill. Then I made three slabs to compose three different levels of outdoor space facing South, on the top, in the middle, and the underneath of the hill, and finally plot the other rooms as connections of those terraces. From underground to blight ground, and to high up in the sky, the house expands like a nature-made nest in an apple on the hillside. As the time goes by, it will grow gently as corresponding the external elements. Contact okuwada architects office
