Startup InCUBAtors, a project for the inclusion and promotion to new identitarian ideas of the Cuban culture.

The project is located on the Haiphong esplanade, in the bay of Habana, Cuba. The port and industrial identity of the bay will undergo a reconversion, since the port will be transferred to the city of Mariel, which offers the opportunity to rethink itself as a significant cultural enclave, from the anthropic and the symbolic.

FUNCTIONAL STRUCTURE

The Startup Incubators are spaces for the development of projects, research and production on a smaller scale as a step prior to its possibility of massive development, where there are exhibitions and another activities.

Based on the study of the program and site (sociocultural, geographic, climatic, political, economic, natural and phenomenological condition), the building is implanted adjacent to the Malecon, without interfering with its continuity, and its occupancy is defined from a dialectical pair:

Public program / OUTGOING, dynamic circulation under semi-covered (Exhibitions, library / reading room, dining room, training).

Private program / INTROVERT, volumes made up of plot brick skin (project incubator, school of entrepreneurs, general services).

ESTRUCTURA FORMAL

The floor of the malecon, in its integrating role, continues and consolidates the level of access to the building. It is complemented by integrated platforms that articulate public and private spaces. The enclosures of the programmatic volumes, constituted by BOXES, are materialized with plot brick skin. For the COVER, a forest of columns gives dynamism to the space, on which support channel beams that recover gray water.

MATERIALITY

Directly related to the climate and technological resources of the site. In a tropical climate, due to the high degree of humidity, the sensation of heat is much higher than the real temperature. Therefore, only the programs indispensable for their use or function are in an enclosed space (brick). The rest of the programs are under semi-covered, mostly naturally ventilated (double ventilated cover).

The building proposes an architecture thinking from the common space for the Cuban people, where prevails public over private, the open spaces over the closed. A large open space in shade, with the space freshness that occupies the semi-covereds from La Habana.
