Sumit Singhal loves modern architecture. He comes from a family of builders who have built more than 20 projects in the last ten years near Delhi in India. Article source: Sweco Architects The project encompasses the construction of the Hedlunda Preschool where the focus in on the children’s development and fantasy. The school is one of the most northerly located internationally certified passive houses in the world. All the materials are non-toxic and nearly all are renewable and were carefully selected in consideration of how they would be perceived by the children.
The main building of the school is located in the area of the property that receives the most sunshine, which allows for generous natural light intake. The canteen is located in a separate building and features sedum roofing to showcase the school’s environmental approach. The building will also be certified under the Sweden Green Building Council’s BREEAM standard. The school also meets the forthcoming “NearlyZeroEnergyBuilding” criteria under the EU 2020 directives.
