The existing structure built in the late forties of the last century does not fit the requirements of the family and a new programme leads its replacement.  Image Courtesy © SAM Architekten und Partner AG The prefabricated wooden structure of the upper floors fits into the hard case of the stone made concrete base structure and narrates the regional historic building culture. The robust stony bases allowed the buildings to be anchored to the rocky grounds and served as stiff fundaments for the light wooden superstructures. The poured white concrete formwork reveals the imprint of the crude wooden boards. Together with Jürg Conzett we developed and engineered the constructive principles, which define the inner spaces. The single room opens to all sides of the spectacular panorama and senses the idea of being all together under one roof. The horizontal glazed band fills the gap between stone and wood creating a sharp cut horizon from the inside. Concave to the back and convex to the front generate the shape of the floor plan. The intermediate floor following the concrete base with the main entrance hosts the single rooms, each equipped with an own door to the landscape and a furnished window. Wallpaper, felt, natural wood and glass mosaics create the interiors atmosphere. Far away from the usual stylish alpine look promoted in nowadays fashion magazines.
