Article source: Nemo Monti Capoferri has chosen the Archmarathon Award – which took place from October 12th to October 14th, 2017 and saw architects from all the Americas gather in Miami – to present Plathéa, the new line of lift&slide windows comprised of extremely thin profiles, capable of thermal insulation, resistance to wind loads and insulation from water infiltration, meeting the highest standards of the trade.
There could be no better place than Miami to present Plathéa, given the extreme weather conditions that cyclically hit the city, and that set the standard for high performance windows throughout the USA and beyond. The combined width of the Plathéa profile can be reduced to a mere 35mm, merging design requirements, aesthetics and technical performance into a solution without compromise that provides absolute quality. The system is based on Capoferri’s successful “lift&slide” technology, comes in stainless steel, true bronze or painted steel and can accept both double-glazed and tripleglazed glass units. Designed to withstand wind loads ranging from 1,000 to 5,000 Pa (hurricane) Plathéa features a mechanical thermal break, special gaskets and custom silicone joints to guarantee maximum performance when it comes to air, water and wind resistance. The lifting hardware is made from stainless steel and is concealed in a recessed floor box. While lifting the window panels is always motor-driven, the sliding movement can be either manual or automated. PLATHÉA LIFT&SLIDE METAL SERIES (STAINLESS STEEL, TRUE BRONZE AND PAINTED STEEL) The Capoferri “lift&slide” technology allows the sliding panel to lift from the stainlesssteel threshold by 3/8” (10mm) approximately, in order to completely free the compression gaskets and allow a frictionless movement of the sliding panels. The lifting mechanism is concealed in a recessed stainless-steel box that also contains the bottom track, also made from stainless steel. The quality of the materials used, combined with the precision in manufacturing the components, are key to understanding the performance, longevity and absolute quality of this system. The lifting of the panels is automated but allows for a manual override in case of blackout. The manual sliding of the panel is extremely smooth even for large and heavy panels, thanks to the high precision mechanisms and components employed. Automated sliding is available as an option. The threshold from stainless steel is completely flush with the finished floor. The gaskets and special inserts made from silicone allow for the highest levels of insulation despite a completely flush threshold. The secret of Capoferri’s total quality This is the secret of Capoferri’s approach to total quality: To maintain full and direct control over all phases of production, from engineering to installation on site. Each window comes with a certificate which indicates thermal insulation (Uwindow) and wind resistance, showing the maximum deflection allowed based on the requested wind loads (measured in relation to the actual panel sizes). As with all Capoferri systems, Plathéa not only has obtained all necessary certifications with regard to resistance and insulation. It has outperformed the most stringent code requirements and is currently in the process of testing and certification for Miami DADE Notice of Acceptance. Contact Nemo Monti
