located on the south side of sin le noble in france, the project was the first step of the implementation of an urban planning strategy that aims to include ‘le raquetʼ and ‘les episʼ into the city, increase their quality of life, and be environmentally friendly. the school links ‘les episʼ district to the newly created ‘le raquetʼ, sewing them to each other. the concept of the educational building follows the environmental and social principles developed in the urban project.

the school acts as sin le nobleʼs entering gate and can be easily located from the distance. superimposed on the network of roads of the district, the building claims the boundaries of the 9,543 square meter plot. its particular buckle shape resembles the nature of the topography. completed in 2015, the 5,500 square meter school can host 540 students in 18 classrooms. shared leisure areas shape and link the preschool and the elementary school. a taste of easiness, community, and affability can be felt throughout the complex. because of the environmentally friendly requirements, the project translated the sustainable building model regulations into features that nurtured its design: outside isolation, sunlight control, natural light in all premises, rainwater control, and low energy consumption. the educational gardens are designed for the younger children to learn about a green approach to the environment.

brick and glass used in the façade give the building its presence. it can be read as both and open and secure, transparent and opaque, while providing its users with a pleasant space for them to learn and socialize. the school is also connected to an urban park which is currently under construction. the planted roof works as a non-accessible hanging garden that combines elegance with energy regulation requirements.brick and glass used in the façade give the building its presence. it can be read as both and open and secure, transparent and opaque, while providing its users with a pleasant space for them to learn and socialize. the school is also connected to an urban park which is currently under construction. the planted roof works as a non-accessible hanging garden that combines elegance with energy regulation requirements.
