Article source: ATELIER KEMPE THILL Recently the construction started of the block14 development in Antwerp’s new city quarter Nieuw Zuid. Block 14 is the central block situated at the new piazza Zuiderplein that will function as the civic centre for the new neighbourhood with several thousand inhabitants.
Therefore block14 is a mixed-used development. Next to medium – prize housing the block will contain spaces for offices, and shops and restaurants at the ground floor. Underneath a public garage for app. 300 cars will be realized. The block has a public arcade all around its perimeter. At the upper floors there will be a zone for balconies with a depth of app. 3 meters. The roof offers generous private and collective roof terraces. With huge sliding doors the apartments can be opened towards the outside spaces. On top of the stepped block big green terraces for loft-like apartments will be realized. The block will be materialized in natural stone and concrete fitting to the ambition to realize a solid urban environment inspired by 19th century qualities. Contact ATELIER KEMPE THILL
