Article source: STUDIO JOANNA LAAJISTO A new atmospheric bar Jackie opened it´s doors in Helsinki´s Iso Roobertinkatu at the end of April 2017. Studio Joanna Laajisto created the interior concept for the bar to resemble an atmosphere of a hotel lobby without the rooms upstairs.
The bar is named after Scott Walker song – Jackie. “I was given a soundtrack of 60´s and 70´s Italian lounge music and 70´s French Cosmic Disco by the owner, Antti Eerikäinen, to understand the ambience he wanted in the space. Best brief I have ever received”, says Joanna Laajisto, the lead designer of the project. Live dj´s play a big part of the bar´s ambience and a special attention was given to the dj booth. Made out of Sapele wood, it was designed to be a little sister to the bar counter. Marble tops as well as the low striped marble tables designed by Laajisto create contrast. The walnut Medici lounge chairs are by Konstantin Grcic for Mattiazzi. The dark green walls and ceiling with long tan leather sofas take you away, maybe to a bar in Milan in the 70´s. The Pipistrello table lamp designed by Italian Gae Aulenti in 1965 reinforces the illusion. Along with drinks, North Italian style pizza slices by the renowned chef Antto Melasniemi are served from lunch time until late. Share this:RelatedContact STUDIO JOANNA LAAJISTO
