State of the Art Billiard Room in Jerusalem, Israel by Annette Frommer Interior DesignJuly 31st, 2018 by Sumit Singhal
Article source: Annette Frommer Interior Design The studio was commissioned to review plans and bring a halted renovation project to completion. One of the challenges was to revamp a dreary long and narrow basement with extremely problematic givens (no light, a low ceiling of 2.25cm., unseemly pipes, and more) and turn it into a prominent lounge.
The final result is astounding and includes an elegant billiard room, an inviting and relaxing lounge, and bar area complemented by an adjoining decorative wrought iron cellar door that leads to a state-of-the-art wine cellar with walls covered in authentic old bricks, and floors with reclaimed ancient stones. Special attention to detail is exemplified by finely designed and crafted Italian woodwork including wooden posts with carvings. The bespoke joinery was manufactured in Italy and assembled here in Israel by the Italian manufacturer. Onyx backlit ceiling panels cleverly disguise the maze of pipes and ducts and create the optical illusion of height. Wood cladding also conceals other nooks and unseemly areas. A small yet practical kitchen was added to serve the basement floor, as well as a quaint powder room, a bathroom covered in the prestigious Porto Oro marble to provide a dramatic feel and an advanced fully equipped fitness gym. The staircase leading to the basement is covered in rich walnut wood and magnificent gold-leaf wallpaper. Great consideration and much thought were provided in order to maximize the space and provide symmetry. The result: an upscale gentlemen’s club (reminiscent of a members-only private club originally established for British upper class men in the 18th century) with a warm and inviting aristocratic atmosphere where a gentleman can invite his friends for drinks, a cigar and good game of billiard.
