Putting the trips of the 15th century to Asia as a reference, the design was created from elements such as the Spice Route to Indies merged with more traditional aspects of Dutch culture like the houses of Delft.

The project of Pakhuismeesteren refurbishment narrates the story of the site itself, where the exchange of goods and cultures, proceeding from all over the world, took place. Consequently, the tonalities and shades of the building are inspired by colors of spices and Flemish paintings that depict the past history of this particular area. The building is certainly one of the few historical remains that are still in Dutch’s Manhattan area.

To give the appearance of a frozen garden designed for the lounge, trees and reminiscent elements of nature were placed in a bluish key.

The corridors transport the traveler through the history of the Dutch navy; walls speak of trade routes from the ancient continent to Asia. On each floor colors take the leading role and serve as a guide within the building. In a modern key, rooms represent the climax of the hotel design.

The warmth of tones in each room, as well as the quality of their materials, will make each visit an unforgettable experience for the visitor.
