In 2015 the architects led the project of the new firefighting section, located next to the main lane of the Guarulhos International Airport, in São Paulo, the largest airport regarding to the number of passengers in the southern hemisphere with around 40 million a year. Therefore, the firefighting section operates at the highest level of fire prevention in the world, in order to attend eventualities with the biggest aircrafts, like the A380 Airbus. It also stores large firefighting trucks and latest generation equipment.

Designed with an orthogonal plan, the program is arranged around a central courtyard, which is used by the firemen for outdoor training and first aid procedures. In the covered area it is located in one of the sides: a studying room, living area, library, meeting room, reception, office, auditorium, dinning hall and kitchen; on the other side, the technical areas and the ones destined to the storage of materials are located.

The firemen also count on a gym, located in a central position with a glass wall, which allows a privileged view to the central courtyard. The firefighting section also has a parking lot and a refueling area for the trucks under the silo. Due to the new flow of vehicles, a new road was built to connect the new building to the existing roads of the airport.

Reaching seventeen meters high and painted in red, the tower where the control house is located is the most eye-catching element in the project. Right underneath it there are the fuel tanks and refueling slab. On this level, diverse materials were used. The floor, for instance, is a metallic grid.

The main color on the building is red while combined with the grey from the metallic structure and cement plates on the façades. Those choices of materials were made not only for the aesthetics of the building, but also to provide a quick construction of the building. The opening of the firefighting section happened in 2016.
