The lobby is located in a building which belongs to a real estate group purchasing buildings around the world and renting them to different companies. We were chosen to design a lobby to one of their buildings in Kfar Saba, Israel.

Right at the beginning of the project, the brief we received from the clients is that the lobby contains different types of seating and that the place must feel welcoming and cozy.

We felt that in order for people to feel welcomed as they enter the lobby, and for it to feel unique and one of a kind, this lobby must merge two different ideas, which meet under the category of “Hospitality”. The concept was to merge Hotel Lobby and Home, in that it functions like a hotel lobby, but feels like home.

The idea was that by using the right materials, we will create a language which speaks weaving. The space has a life of its own and feels almost as if it were sewed piece by piece. The materials chosen were all authentic and natural. Materials which respect the environment and talk recycle, local and fresh.

A wooden geometric partition was designed in order to separate different sitting areas so that they allow privacy and intimacy. These partitions offered a quiet yet social area for people wanting to fulfill both formal and personal meetings. The function of this lobby and the way it is designed, provide todays “open space workers” a place of their own.

The plan offers different types of seating. There are small salons, bench seating and bar seats by the coffee stand. All were placed to allow people entering the lobby to bring life to it.
