On the edge of the forest on the north, above the meadow on the slope toward south, with the beautiful view over the Danube River and the Klosterneuburg Abbey, all over to City of Vienna, this is the site where the house called “Widescreen” found her place.

Built for one big family, with the very special places for everybody needs, with two fire places and only one TV, and with an open view to the landscape from all rooms and spaces.

This concept provoke the maximum possible width inside the regulation on the site, and needed two completely different sides of the house – closed to the north, with only two big sliding doors on the edges, open the terraces of the middle level, and with the structural glazing in the south, maximum open to the sun and the view and the big stone terrace on the basement level, ending in the wide endless swimming pond on the beginning of the south slope.

One two-storey-loggia on the south side, with one balcony inside it creates a covered place for the sitting beyond the pond. Two lower storey of the house, with different the terraces in those two levels are the common zone of the house, with the open kitchen, dining room, wellness with the sauna, living and working rooms, TV room, and with a garage and the technical rooms on the north side of basement level, under the car approach on the ground and a official entrance directly in the middle of the house. The sculptural Corten stairway behind the two storey loggia and under the glazing directly above it connects all the levels in the house. One elevator is planned, but not yet installed – the concrete shaft with a clear glazing above is the special attraction of the house, connecting all levels with the light, day and night. The upper floor rooms and bathrooms are organized around the sculptural stairway, with some glazing in the roof, and two terraces on the east and west end of the house.

The house is heated (flooring) and cooled (ceiling) with a heating pump (ground probes), equivalent to a low-energy house (complete energy demand EEB 35,7 kWh/[m2 a]).

Domestic ventilation has been installed in all rooms and spaces.

The whole glazing is sun protected with the aluminum outside blinds.

All functions are Loxone-controlled and flexibly expandable.

Cabling for a PV system on the roof allows for upgrading that would make the house energy self-sufficient (in combination with electric cars and battery charger in the garage).
