Article source: rouby hemmerlé brigand architectes The issue at stake in this project is to integrate the building into its context by burying a part of it into the ground. When discovering the site, the building appears as “hidden” in the landscape. The building first unifies and then divides the topographic levels of the slope. The choice was made to implement a rectangular and compact form largely open on two sides. The patio situated at the heart of the building lets natural light gain the association’s room and the corridors. A concrete terrace situated on the green roof allows the contemplation of the sports field, the town of Kintzheim and the surrounding scenery of the mountains.  Image Courtesy © rouby hemmerlé brigand architectes The structure is made of thermal double concrete walls. The outer skin is made of textured concrete imitating soil in structure and colour. The integration of the building in its context is complete. The construction is utterly a welcoming and “open” building. The use of many glazed surfaces allow to see the main spaces of this public equipment : the clubhouse and the choir room.
