Article source: OMNIPLAN Architects Dallas-based OMNIPLAN Architects, announced the grand opening of one of its most prestigious projects to date, the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum. The OMNIPLAN team, led by Mark Holisinger, designed the LEED certified, 55,000 square foot museum from the inside out. The design amplifies the museum’s narrative by leading guests through a physically changing path with a series of highly experiential spaces that allow visitors to fully absorb the exhibits.
Its striking façade, marked by a band of copper encircling the top floor, is a visible beacon of civil rights that will acquire a natural patina over time, alluding to the idea of perseverance in weathering the storm. “We wanted to create a museum that offered visitors a truly intimate experience,” said Mark Holsinger, OMNIPLAN Design Director. “From the moment they arrive guests are guided on a journey along intuitive paths that creates an emotional connection to the exhibits. Each display is set in black-box spaces to contrast with the light-filled lobby and create a dichotomy of light and darkness, of hope and tragedy.” The $78 million project is five times the size of the original Dallas Holocaust Museum. It dramatically expands the Museum’s mission to teach the history of the Holocaust and advance human rights to combat prejudice, hatred, and indifference. Contact OMNIPLAN Architects
