A resting residence house designed on a single floor for a retired couple and their guests. This house was built on a regular 20 m lot on each side located in a Golf club in the city of Mérida. The architectural response on a single level was an important piece that allowed to obtain an additional 10% of land occupation (COS) and take advantage of the native trees that were already on the site. With the idea of compacting what was built and meeting the particular request to optimize the user, a 17m front x 14m deep module was designed forming a piece of 238m2.

The center of the project is the dining room, which opens in the form of a cross to the room, kitchen, study-guest bedroom and terrace-pool. We worked with the heights to differentiate the spaces of the program and to generate ventilation and natural lighting of all the spaces. The kitchen and dining room are connected by means of a zapote wood structure that loads a lightened slab at 4.5 m high, through which the hot air that enters the house leaves and allows natural light to enter.  The material issue was resolved with 3 finishes: Gray porcelain floors throughout the house in a format of 1.20 x .60 to lose the division of the program in the house, the walls based on apparent polished cement with the idea of requiring the least maintenance and details in Tzalam wood to contrast and make the spaces warm.

The shape is the result of what happens inside the concrete volume, which moves on a stone basement looking to float on the ground. A logical language is worked where slabs and walls are marked by means of gaps to give length to the facade. A flag wall is raised in the parking lot to break the volume of concrete and mark the horizontality of the slabs.
