Article source: Abdenur Arquitectos “House in the hill” is a family house located in the town of Sinsacate, about 55 km away from the city of Cordoba. It sits on the Camino Real, an old area for the exchange of horses and rest for travelers who were heading to Upper Peru in times of the Viceroyalty of the “Río de la Plata”. Over the years it began to be used by some families of Cordoba for their rest during the summer months. The land where the house is implanted presents a natural elevation generating a podium where the house is placed in a sculptural way and they grant exceptional visuals from inside.
The main premise was to prioritize the landscape and the visuals, so the housing materializes by framing a natural postcard where the surrounding landscape completely motivated its conception. The spaces have a linear development and are contained by a concrete skin, with stone details and glass enclosures, all of this being austere and noble materials, without maintenance needed. The social area is at the center of the strip, while the private areas, that is, the bedrooms, are arranged at the open ends towards the visual ones. On one side, you can find the suite with bathroom and walk-in dressing room. On the other side, separated by the social area, are located the other 3 bedrooms with direct income from the outside, thus giving privacy to each member of the family. In the center of the strip, the social areas are located. Linked to the entrance hall is the living room, followed by the dining room, which is directly linked to the kitchen through a marble bar, which is not only used at the time of cooking but also, every morning at breakfast. Continuing with the concept of visually linking the spaces, next to the dining room, separated by a sliding glass curtain is the barbecue area and the grill. This social meeting and gathering space turn out to be the heart of the house, the place with the most use and dynamism of the whole project. These mobile glass skins offer the home the ability to be flexible and adapt according to the uses and requirements of its occupants. Already on the outside, the pool is located as a recreational space playing the role of water mirror and link between the living space and the natural horizon. A gallery of the entire length of the house works as a connecting link between the landscape and each of the interior spaces In terms of materialization, it was sought to harmonize with the surrounding environment, the purity of the concrete and porphyry skins give the feeling of a large rock on the hill, in which you can seek refuge, calmness and tranquility while always maintaining the connection with nature.
