Article source: Bureau Baba Coffeeshop De Kade (cannabis supplier) is located in Plan Zuid in Amsterdam. Plan Zuid is a neighbourhood known for the typical Amsterdamse School-architecture and urban plan designed by Berlage.
The interior of the coffeeshop reflects the architecture of Plan Zuid with art nouveau shapes and art deco decoration combined with contemporary furniture. The spatial concept is based on the history of the parcel. The coffeeshop used to be divided into a store, and the store owners’ living area. This division is still visible in the rhythm of the facade, where the former store has an open character to the street, and the former living area is more introvert and private. These architectural circumstances are the solution to social engagement between the coffeeshop, its clients and its neighbours. The former store is now used as the shop, where cannabis and drinks are sold. These can be consumed in the more private smoking room; situated in the former house. This way, the neighbours can look and see a beautiful and welcoming shop, while the clients can drink and smoke privately. Contact Bureau Baba
