Article source: REFORM Architekt The unspoiled area of Łódź – it is in such a location that ‘RE: HOUSE IN THE ROCK’, a house designed by Marcin Tomaszewski from REFORM Architekt studio, will be built. This futuristic building will be built on a plot of land with a hill, against the background of unusual natural circumstances.
The 350 m² building will be built on a 3,000 m² plot. It would seem that apart from the original body, the project does not hide any secrets. The designed building has been seamlessly integrated into the field, so it fits in perfectly with its surroundings. Even the garage part is located just below ground so as not to disturb this impression’, architect Marcin Tomaszewski revealed. ‘The decision to do so was dictated by the specificity of the plot of land, which is located on a hill – initially the flat ground rises upwards. Looking at the project, one can get the impression that the land ‘enters the object’. A futuristic body, a traditional façade The building is raw in reception and that was the architect’s assumption. The body of the house was to look natural in order not to disturb the landscape surrounding the plot. Characteristic for this realization is the use of retaining walls, which belong to the basic engineering structures. Smoothly ‘driven in’, integrated into the building, it will consist of a traditional skeleton, and only proven, classic materials are to be used for the construction. The project will use architectural concrete slabs, 1.5 m by 1.5 m, made to order. Other materials are: glass, alucobond, which is a composite slab consisting of two external aluminium sheets, filled with a mineral core to guarantee the durable construction of the house, and concrete slabs in the driveway. Energy-efficient solutions The design of the house includes all energy-saving solutions, which are also the hallmark of every project of REFORM Architekt studio. ‘Every time we focus exclusively on methods that help save energy and protect the climate’, explains architect Marcin Tomaszewski.
