A private residence for a family of six on a 250-meter plot of which 180 meters have been allotted for the house and 80 meters for the garden. We became involved with the project when the foundations were being laid, with the aim of planning and designing a modern, elegant house with clean lines. We decided to work with three main materials: wood, concrete and metal. As you walk through the front door, the first thing you notice is a well-designed and impressive concrete wall, with large geometric shapes that each one is different from the other. This is the personal fingerprint of the designer Mentesh in each of her projects. The special ‘one of a kind’ wall blends in with the space concept. There is an unique iron and black mesh banister alongside hanging wooden stairs which together form a sculptural element. Both elements intimate the design style in all the spaces of the house. A look at the kitchen area reveals that it plays a significant part in the space. The kitchen is also used for entertaining so, in addition to the impressive design, we put a lot of emphasis on practicality and ergonomics. The cupboards were made out of oak, according to our own specific plan and built to contain most of the electrical appliances in order to create an uncluttered look. The shade of the oak was chosen to radiate warmth, while the black Dekton countertop provides a sharp contrast to complete the unique and interesting modern look. Therefore, thanks to intelligent planning, more is hidden than seen, we would like to share with you that behind the kitchen cupboards on the left-hand-side, there is a spacious guest suite with a hidden entrance. This is due to the desire to create a clean look while creating complete privacy affording a clean, spacious look in the space. On the other side of the space, near the designer wall, is the dining area which is also made of wood in order to maintain a sense of warmth. We chose top-quality living room furniture, with soft fabric in a color-range of grey and mustard with a black metal table. Between two large windows overlooking the beautiful green garden, we created a T.V. wall cladded with lengthwise strips of white wood. For the windows, we chose high-quality black profiles which correspond perfectly with the unique bannister as well as created large openings in order to enjoy the view and the sun while letting the outdoors pervade the house. We conceived dropped ceilings at various heights to make the lighting more interesting and impact on the intensity of the light produced, thereby creating intimate settings in the space. It goes without saying that we chose black lighting strips that would stand out against the white ceiling and diffuse a clean and luxurious look in the space. On the upper floor, we created a master suite which keeps with an intimate, luxury boutique hotel. A palette of materials was composed of various shades of black, grey and light colors as a contrast. To create a feeling of warmth, we chose wooden parquet; delicate curtains made from a soft fabric; the bed flounce in shades of grey all brought together with light-colored wallpaper. The master suite is upstairs. Since the bedroom is relatively narrow we decided that the bathroom, designed with a clear-cut, dramatic look, should be separated from the bedroom by a transparent glass partition thereby affording a more open and spacious look to the master suite. This is how we managed to create a luxurious, modern and clean look to accurately complement the design of the lower floor. Contact Ifat Mentesh
