Article source: Estudio Bespoke The refurbishment of this house located in a block developed in the expansion of the 1970s, is distinguished by the maximum use of space, both visually and physically. The original distribution, dark and twisted, sought only quantitative yield. For this reason, the renovation loses one of the original bedrooms, gaining in return a full bathroom and a large and fluid public space.
The flat, which has 99 square meters, is developed in an extensive program, with three bedrooms, three bathrooms, an isolated kitchen and another kitchen like space that joins the living/dining space, where the family gatherings take place. The need manifested by the property to get a large space prepared for meetings and “apéros” previous to informal dinners, forced to develop a fluid L-shaped space where guests can be accommodated in different ways. To develop this space, oak-wood doors and partitions were folded, unifying the entire space and visually enlarging it. In addition, a straight bench five meters long houses a storage area. This bench is essential at the time of receiving guests, because in this way it is possible not to use other seating elements that would hinder daily life. The terrace was intervened with materials that show a visual continuity with the living room itself, expanding it not only visually but also physically during the spring/ summer season. One of the oak doors gives access to the three bedrooms and the two bathrooms. At this point, it is essential to develop all the doors of the night zone that are sliding to avoid the necessary sweeping of the opening. In addition, the sliding door that disappears inside the partition, favours the communication with the bathrooms and the enlargement of each bedroom, at least in a visual way. Mention separately deserve the two glass doors of the master bedroom, thanks to which we managed to incorporate the third bathroom of the house to the bedroom. Finally, the renovation has tried to favour the visuals on the nearby river and the rest of the city, widening gaps, unifying materials and introducing external light in each of the rooms.
