M Moser Associate designed experiential encounters the moment you walk through the door at the regional headquarters of this global media and entertainment company.

Blending its universal reputation for entertainment with local influences, the Madrid office design fosters a brand-led approach, providing culturally-curated inspiration for users and visitors alike.

The new office serves to communicate the company’s position as an industry leader, fostering regional relationships and expanding business within both markets.

To reflect the entertainment aspect of the consumers’ relationship with the company’s content, impactful arrival experiences instantly immerse users into the brand. Top talent prioritise companies that can provide a memorable workplace experience and this was a key element of the brief for the conceptual design.

Feature-lit with no windows and terracotta-coloured walls, the Madrid arrival space pulls users towards sliding glass doors to experience the human-centric side of the brand as they enter into the bright, welcoming cafeteria. The space acts as a central hub for use throughout the day, from catered staff lunches and casual coffee meetings to informal “all-hands” and external events.

“Our brand-led approach enabled a theatrical quality to the arrival experience that is both on brand and memorable.” shares Senior Associate – Design, Jeni Durksen.

During the stakeholder visioning workshops, we examined the client’s unique culture, identified key requirements, and brainstormed their aspirations for future ways of working and the overall feel for the office design.

Through collaborations with each local team it emerged that the interior design should be culturally relevant to create a sense of community and belonging in the new spaces while celebrating their uniqueness.

Colourful, comfortable and inspiring were key concepts for Madrid’s aspirational new workplace. We supported this by interlacing Spanish references of plazas and paseos to create collaborative destination spaces and wide corridors doubling as casual conversation space and circulation.

The HQ has a dedicated suite to host luminary guests, comprised of pitch rooms, screening rooms, video production spaces, editing bays and event space. Private access to the suite emphasises exclusivity and privacy with fast-track entry for visitors.

A full-sized cinema with projector and adjoining bar sits within the Madrid space for writers, actors, and directors to interact and enjoy.

Creating a large, open work zone allows for increased seating capacity as the regional team grows. Meeting rooms were offset and we allowed for extra rooms to begin with, rather than expensive retro-fitting and splitting of meeting rooms, enabling the space to dilate organically.

Future floorplan solutions were provided for the company’s day two expectations of exponential growth. We circumvented the feeling of an empty workspace by including collaborative team lounges and utilising marketing props to further embed the brand within the environment.

Understanding that environmental design cues behaviour, leading to personal and business performance, we provided diversity of spaces within the workplace to support end users in undertaking their best work.

Colourful, bold and exciting define the Spanish workspace where we balanced sunny, social spaces like the café with quiet, destination areas including the private all-green library and muted phone rooms.

As one of the strongest drivers of innovation in the workplace and a key value of the client’s culture, creating spaces dedicated to the support of diversity was paramount. Variations in styles and locations of work settings activate unlimited collaboration and intelligent knowledge sharing.
