Japanese-inspired Mediterranean minimalism. Pantò – Rooftop Boutique Rooms, the latest project signed by the Sicilian firm PuccioCollodoro Architetti, is located in the heart of Palermo, a few steps away from the historical Vucciria market and from Piazza San Domenico.

An accommodation which, despite the small size, aspires to be a five-star facility for its neat finishing touches carefully crafted in every detail. Situated on the last floor of a recently renovated historical building, it benefits of a spectacular panoramic view of the entire city, thanks to its suggestive terrace. The project is developed with minimalistic principles, typical of Japanese, that are blended with materials from Mediterranean area.

The architects developed a spatial composition that exalts the internal height, creating lofts and double heights, wisely playing on natural light coming from the windows carefully placed on the pitched roofs, and thus exalting the truthfulness of the materials.

The three rooms of Pantò – Rooftop Boutique Rooms are characterized by unique details and wisely arranged material combinations, where the essence of natural oak-wood, the brushed Billiemi marble and the velvety effect of the anthracite resin, are exalted by natural light, making clear a common connection between all the spaces, utility areas included.

The structure consist of four main spaces on two levels: three bedrooms, common area and the terrace, center of the project. The entrance can be distinguished by the resin flooring and by two boiseries made of natural oak and Billiemi marble. Each room is be one of a kind, although the common elements are clearly recognizable. The junior suite offers a suggestive double height, with an internal staircase perfectly integrated with the TV furnishing, becoming a railing for the loft in its final section, where a big window situated in the pitched roof floods the space with light.

The deluxe suite, on the other hand, stands out for the simplicity of its bed area, characterized by a headboard in natural oak-wood which gives continuity to the parquet flooring, placed opposite to the volume of the bathroom, characterized instead by two stained smoked glass windows at the entrance and in the shower, which give visual continuity to the two spaces. The rigid handcrafted marble sink, rest on a suspended shelf that gives to it a strange sense of lightness opposing to the material which is made of.

The standard suite, even if the materials are the same of the other rooms, keeps the atmosphere of the historical origins of the building, with his pitched roof, the dimensions and the small windows opening on the roofs of the historical center of the city: through them is possible to see the sea and the ancient port.

The entrance area leads to the upper floor via a wooden staircase where there is the kitchen and the Rooftop Terrace with a suggesting view of the historical city.
