Article source: JERDE Zhuji, China is one of the ancient capitals of Yue Kingdom and the native place of Xishi. It covers an area of 2,311 square kilometers with a population of 1.0559 million, and has 27 townships, 468 villages, 69 urban communities under its jurisdiction. Located in the south wing of the Yangtze Delta, only 200 km away from Shanghai, 90 km from Hangzhou, and 60 km from Xiaoshan International Airport, Zhuji enjoys an obvious regional advantage. Furthermore, the city is a shining example of industry, trade, community, and environmental protection.
The site location is known for its picturesque mountains and rivers, Zhuji is one of the China’s excellent tourist cities, in which there is a State-level Scenic Region, Huanjiang River-Wuxie Scenic Region. Drawing inspiration from the cultural heritage of the region’s Wu Xie Lake and the mountain range to the south, the project features a central park with lush trees and water pools where the community gathers for relaxation, recreation, dining and entertainment. Powerlong Zhuji Park Central is envisioned to be the main community gathering space for the ChengXi ShangWu district. The project is located at the intersection of the district’s main eastwest axis leading to the high speed train station; and the north-south axis connecting directly into the WuXie Lakefront park. This prime location in the new district maximizes the accessibility from the region by train, and the connectivity to the residential communities planned to the north of the site and the recreational cultural offering of the WuXie Lakefront park. Powerlong Zhuji Park Central is organized into 3 primary components, a lifestyle family oriented West Mall to the west, the community urban living room in the center, and a mixed use Street Retail Village to the east. An organic garden loop path connects the mall to the west through the center park to the 3 level outdoor retail village to the east. This garden path connects people at multiple levels, engaging people at the ground level with tree lined paths and refreshing water pools. The second and third level paths afford views of the dining terraces of the street retail village to the east and the outdoor led screen of the cineplex located on the fourth level of the mall. The West Mall is a four level indoor retail, dining and entertainment destination. It features lifestyle retail and dining offerings for the new residential communities in the region, The fourth level is anchored by a cineplex with an IMAX. This IMAX auditorium articulates the exterior elevation with an outdoor LED screen where the people in the central park and in the dining terraces of the Street Retail Village can enjoy a night time movie. One service apartment tower anchors the north of the mall. The Central Park serves as the main outdoors community heart of the new district. It includes water pools with feature trees providing cool respite to hot summer days and large plazas for seasonal events and festivities. The Street Retail Village features local community retail which engages the water pools of the Central Park. The central architectural focus of the Village is a circular building with a rooftop garden amphitheater, offering a prime location to enjoying viewing the large LED screen on the exterior of the IMAX during the night, and views of WuXie Lake and the mountain range to the south during the day. Collectively, the districts of Powerlong Zhuji Park Central create a truly unique communal gathering destination with enriching and uplifting experiences. Contact JERDE
