Stairway to Heaven in Vilnius, Lithuania by YCL studio

A memorable and minimalist 68-square-meter apartment with a unique staircase-like detail in Vilnius, in the newly developed residential complex of PAUPYS.

The accents of this interior were set by contrasting colors and textures, with a unique stair detail on the ceiling, revealed by the hidden technical piping. The stairs detail creates a unique feeling of the upside-down climb, yet it is very slightly visible and doesn‘t create an oppressive feeling, but an interesting volumetric image inside the main area of the apartment.

This design uses the neutrality of the main color to draw attention to the rough, strong wood texture throughout the home. It’s a three-dimensional puzzle that connects the surfaces with a fluid flow of space throughout the apartment. Only the bedroom has a darker hue to create a darker atmosphere to rest in, even on a bright day.

The structure of the plan is as simple as the overall concept of the apartment. The central hall connects all areas of the apartment with a single, simple space. Wooden accents near doors highlight passages to the rooms, yet the bathroom entrance is barely visible and hidden in wall color.

Wood flooring texture was used on vertical surfaces and furniture to enhance the purity of materials used. To match the functionality and overall look, parquet was used on furniture and doors.

The beautiful view of the Old Town of Vilnius has led the concept to be modern and minimalist, to enhance the view of the surroundings and not compete with them.

The play of light and shadow on every surface ensures that the concept changes and adapts with each incidence of sunlight.
