Article source: Ascoz Arquitectura More than 400 square meters of stone walls form the silhouette of the house, located in the region of l’Horta Nord, València. The ground floor is a shared space, which opens to the garden and the swimming pool. Casa R is a project by Ascoz Arquitectura, located in the region of l’Horta Nord, València, in which two parallel stone walls of large dimensions support and frame the access to an elegant and Mediterranean house. Borning from these walls, the rest of the elements of the house flow southbound.
Stone walls are the key component that separates the interior and exterior; they anchor elements such as closets, kitchens or stairs and give the residence its own character, both from the outside and the inside. “The family, consisting of a couple and their three daughters, dreamed of a spacious home, with a swimming pool and a barbecue where they could spend time with family and friends. They envisioned an elegant, Mediterranean home where stone – as an architectural element – would be the protagonist and where their privacy and that of their entire family would be guaranteed,” says Damián Ascoz, architect and founder of Ascoz Arquitectura. Thus, the studio has defined a ground floor full of life, which favors coexistence, in connection with the garden and pool, with great views from the top of a soft hill. The use of stone was essential for the family. “This design connects both with nature and with the essence of architecture: walls that protect us and from which the beauty of the construction is found,” explains Ascoz. Following this idea, the most comfortable and practical layout possible was sought, giving great prominence to the ground floor where the family actually lives. The living-dining room, the kitchen, the children’s room and the master bedroom are located on this level, while three additional bedrooms are located on the top floor, which will allow the daughters to have an independent space, if they wish so, as time goes by.
