R17- i8 – Art collector’s apartment in the heart of Tel Aviv in Israel by Architect Raz Melamed

Monday, June 21st, 2021

Article source: Architect Raz Melamed

With a view of the Tel Aviv’s skyscrapers and its urban vegetation, a wonderful apartment has evolved, combining quiet materiality and a touch of humor. The building has undergone a massive renovation designed by architect Raz Melamed with the aim of adapting to the needs and desires of the young tenant, who has a fondness for order and a love of art items that symbolize aesthetics equally as much as good memories. From the beginning, it was clear that the design of the apartment would place emphasis on displaying diverse art, and would respond to the client’s requests such as a large bedroom, gym, and a place to entertain.

Prior to the renovation, the layout of the apartment included 3 bedrooms, a small kitchen and a crowded living space. In addition, the laundry room and the original guest bathroom created a long, narrow corridor that led to the rooms, which was a disruptive factor in the natural flow of architecture.

Apartment V2 in Koper, Slovenia by marasovic arhitekti

Wednesday, June 16th, 2021

Article source: marasovic arhitekti

The presented project is a result of a close collaboration between our studio and the clients. It was their input, the open-minded approach to new ideas and the ability to think about a nonordinary lifestyle that made this project possible.

The apartment is situated at the first floor of a historical house in the center of Koper. The house was once a home of a noble family, but after WW II was divided in smaller apartments, as many others. Apart from the location, the façade and the various details, one of the main characteristics that testifies about the noble past of the building is the “piano nobile” with its great height of 4.3 meters.

Saturday, June 5th, 2021

Article source: Sergey Makhno Architects

Mazanka is an apartment in a Kyiv skyscraper with a view of the Dnipro river, where ancient construction technologies were used. In the Ukrainian language, мазанка (mazanka) means a small village house built of wood, clay, and reeds. The name comes from the word мазати (mazaty) — to cover something with a layer of clay.

Mazanka apartment is a dialogue of our architects with the past. And its result is a step towards the originality of modern Ukrainian design and Ukrainian culture as it is.

A House for a Gardener in London, United Kingdom by Amos Goldreich Architecture

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2021

Article source: Amos Goldreich Architecture

A much-loved garden was central to our design of this side and rear extension for a Victorian mid-terrace house in the Stroud Green Conservation Area of Haringey. The project for a couple, both in property development and one a keen gardener, arranges a sequence of living spaces around the garden and an internal courtyard that gives constant connection to greenery on the tight urban site.

Oak-clad beams spanning the breadth of the expansive kitchen and dining area set up a rhythm that draws the eye out towards the garden, which is accessed through sliding glass doors. Expressing these structural elements not only offers crucial extra head height that contributes to the generosity of the space within the extension, but became fundamental to our design.

Article source: Barbora Léblová Interiors & Architecture

The site, formerly zoned as football stadium, is located next to Parukářka, a city park popular with Prague residents and visitors. The apartment complex is the work of an internationally recognised local studio, A69. The residential complex is composed as a ring of sloping terrace townhouses, hidden behind a green wall, referencing a landscaped bowl with contrasting taller apartment blocks rising above as metaphorical football terraces. The masterplan visually extends the existing city park and introduces an exceptional panorama capturing the Žižkov TV Tower with views across the city to Prague Castle. This careful composition allows the apartment owners to enjoy uninterrupted views of the iconic skyline from all rooms within the apartment, including the master bathroom.
