Bridge View in Paradise Valley, Arizona by Kendle Design Collaborative

Sunday, December 22nd, 2019

Article source: Kendle Design Collaborative

This site posed unique features and challenges including a natural desert wash with an abrupt edge and a significant drop in elevation, a corner lot condition which imposed larger setbacks as well as Hillside Zoning that imposes greater building envelope restrictions. The owner’s goal was to design a family home with mountain and valley views similar to that of a hillside location, but on a lot with minimal elevation.

Our response organizes the home in two levels with the main living spaces and master suite located on the second level affording spectacular mountain, valley, and city views, while bridging across a lower level composed of children’s and guest suites along with indoor and outdoor activity areas.

Casa A in Guimaraes, Portugal by REM’A | arquitectos

Monday, December 16th, 2019

Article source: REM’A | arquitectos

The House is located in a typical plot in the outskirts of the city of Guimarães and is characterized by a dense construc:on environment that surrounds the plot where we are intervening.

The project unfolds around the direct concerns of the context in which it is inserted – the privacy and dual al:metric nature of the lot. Split into two floors, the proposal revolves around two dis- :nct rela:ons of use, based on the use of gaps/yards – whether exogenous or endogenous – corresponding to the type of program which they restrict (social or private). For the social areas of the habita:on, exogenous gaps/yards have been established to allow a plurality in the interior/ exterior rela:ons of the house, as well as to expand the habitable surface when the window frames are fully open.

Mr. Cai Yuanpei, the leading educator in early twentieth-century China, stressed the importance of aesthetic education in one of his books and pointed out that aesthetic appreciation capability largely depends on whether one is cultured and educated. In modern era, the ability of appreciating beauty is beneficial to study, work, socializing and daily life.

In daily life, most of our time is spent in living spaces. No longer just requesting peace and comfortableness, more and more modern people are seeking to showcase their aesthetic taste in their homes. People, space and art integrate and interact in “home”, which shapes ideal lifestyles.

The project is a model villa located in Hangzhou, China. Through incorporating art and humanism into the space, it presents the owner’ taste of life from different perspectives, and sets an example for contemporary large-scale residences.

EP House in São Paulo, Brazil by Studio OTTO FELIX

Sunday, December 15th, 2019

Article source: Studio OTTO FELIX

The highlight of the EP House is the well-defined and balanced use of geometric forms. The wide spaces are visually connected and they are all opened to the exuberant nature of its surroundings. Built to be a family weekend house, it provides a privileged view of a dense forest and a large lake.

The straight lines of the architecture stay in constant contrast to the organic and fluid vegetation. With a simple, yet ellegant, visual solution the house is organized in two large block. The ground one is formed by an imposing concrete structure that frames and supports the upper block, which is completely built in metallic structure, bringing lightness and balance to the house.

88 social housing units in Pantin, France by Avenier Cornejo architectes

Friday, December 13th, 2019

Article source: Avenier Cornejo architectes

The Ourcq canal, steeped in history, is a testimony to a continuous evolution. It has precious historical jewels preserved and highlighted, while it continues to evolve to adapt to the needs of urban life. It is on the banks of this Canal that are located the three buildings belonging to the ZAC Grands Moulin de Pantin built by Emerige and Semip. This site, privileged in several senses, is located along the shore and borders the place where will appear a work of art reminiscent of the old chimney of laundries Elis.

It is on the criteria of an exceptional location and a present industrial heritage that we have guided our approach while being aware of environmental issues. For this we wanted to develop the layout of the buildings around this favorable orientation of the place and allow a maximum of housing to enjoy this advantage and the peaceful view of the canal with an elegant and contemporary architecture.
