Casa Nell'orto in Pisa, Italy by LDA.iMdA architetti associati

Friday, August 9th, 2019

Article source: LDA.iMdA architetti associati

In its various forms to live in a private house can express the desire to get back to a lost dimension.

In this project, shape is not context, is not reinterpretation of tradition and not even search for lost figurative relationships.

We want to fix the aspiration of a client's hobby:  to cultivate a vegetable garden, and we made it with a pure external form. This form owes its origin from the ancestral child's drawing of a house. The aim precedes the practice to put contemporary architecture in fragile territorial context in order to reactivate new potential relationships. This statement of “la casa nell'orto” project contains all the energies that the clients put into this realization,  with particular regards to innovative choices:

Parkside in Washington by TYLER ENGLE ARCHITECTS

Friday, August 9th, 2019

Article source: TYLER ENGLE ARCHITECTS

Originally built in the 1920’s, this house suffered numerous inharmonious modifications and additions requiring an almost surgical design approach.  Reconfigured circulation, enhanced functionality, and a wholly new interior were the result of a substantial remodel where most of the upper floor and roof were strategically removed.

Breathe Architecture were initially engaged to build a larger house for a family of four, but after living overseas, they realised that they could live in a smaller footprint and the project evolved to the renovation of a heritage listed terrace house. Our clients loved the original character and stories that were attached to the house, so protecting that was important to them.

Boundary House in Luohe, China by LI WENXI Architects

Wednesday, August 7th, 2019

Article source: LI WENXI Architects

Going back to three years ago, the day when I thought of “Boundary House”.

I met Sun Zhaoyang in the winter evening of 2016. During the chat, I learned that he wanted to build a house for his parents in his hometown. His hometown is located in the village on the outskirts of Luohe City, Henan Province, China. The site is at the end of the village, facing the fields. What is in the distance? Hills, desulphurization towers and rock birds that don’t want to go back to the nest.

One Flowering Tree

The first thing is to build a circle of boundary wall. This is not our original intention, but the local convention. I am not disgusted with this, because the wall does not mean blocking. In my opinion, it likes a cell membrane, which constructing a mechanism for selecting and transmissing, and also setting a starting point and basis for our design.

Urban Apartment Renovation in Shenzhen, China by AD ARCHITECTURE

Wednesday, August 7th, 2019

Article source: AD ARCHITECTURE

The project is a retrofitted apartment located in Houhai Area, Shenzhen, China. The original space reflected the client's affection for Chinese-style design and wooden furniture. As approaching the project, AD ARCHITECTURE intended to break through the traditional design aesthetics and the sense of massiveness. The designers strove to incorporate contemporary elements into the design, inject a Zen ambience into the space in a logic manner, as well as deconstruct and reorganize spatial elements, so as to generate an austere and elegant Oriental aesthetic and showcase the contemporary concept of “affordable luxury”. In addition, they brought integrated smart home system, light control system, constant temperature, humidity and oxygen control system and as well as noise-free system into the space, aiming to provide a healthy and quality living environment.

Situated on a high floor of a residential building, the apartment enjoys a panoramic view of the nearby Sihai Park. Living in this space is a peaceful, graceful, comfortable and relaxing experience.

Article source: Pablo Muñoz Payá Arquitectos

“Each process of change means an emergence, a development and a becoming and this is only imaginable in time” – Carl Menger.

The “Explanada Reform” arose from the need to adapt space and interior design to the changes experienced between differing generations, evolving and creating, bringing about as a result a new home.

All this led Pablo Muñoz Payá Architects to reorganise and carry out an integral reform of this home located in Petrer (Alicante), which has a surface area of 85m2.
