The area has transformed itself from a rural setting few years ago into a new arts and finance district. A few artists and museums have moved in, as does the local developer, who has occupied the site starting the business within a preliminary structure. Inheritance and Transmission

Traditional techniques lie in cultural and historical context. They look remote and abstract in parallel to our daily life. In Ten Bamboo Studio Art Gallery project, SITUATE Architecture tempts to translate traditional technique with space by introducing interaction, creating echoes of the past with present.

Ten Bamboo Studio

Originated in Ming dynasty (1584-1674) as a publishing house, Ten Bamboo Studio’s wood-block printing technique was honorably inscribed on the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of China in 2014. This technique is used as the method of reproducing the masterpiece of artworks and calligraphies with 3 key steps: tracing works, carving blocks and printing pieces.

Waterfront Art Gallery in Nanchang, China by Lacime Architects

Sunday, March 8th, 2020

Article source: Lacime Architects

The project is located on the west bank of Xianghu Lake, Nanchang City. The large-scale block form of the new town is markedly different from the “natural” structure of the old town. Fuhe River that flows south from the “Tengwangge Delta” tries to preserve the landscape characteristics of this city, and turns the bridge into a major element in the urban design. The project intends to obtain evidence from the morphological memory of this contemporary city, and remains in the frontier of the cultural landscape.

GaP / Gallery and Space in Znojmo, Czech Republic by ORA

Tuesday, February 11th, 2020

Article source: ORA

At the beginning, the idea was to create a space for exhibiting contemporary art in Znojmo and thus make it accessible to the general public. At the same time we designed a space that will serve as a base for the local association, space for community workshops, chamber theater or lectures. There is also a small café that ensures the economical sustainability of the project. These different functions blend together and influence each other, the borders are marked only by the shade of the material – dark part for the cafe, light for the gallery. While the café space is heavily filled with a shelf system for displaying quality Czech design, the gallery space is empty and versatile.
