AUDITORIUM OF BONDY & RADIO FRANCE CHORAL SINGING CONSERVATORY in Bondy, France by PARC ARCHITECTES

Friday, July 18th, 2014

Article source: PARC ARCHITECTES

This auditorium is a new symbol in the suburban city of Bondy. Suburbs have built an empire of shopping malls, individual houses and parking lots. Located on the outskirts of Paris, Bondy has a loose and low-density urban fabric. The architecture of the building plays with the aesthetics of the hangar : a very simple square plan and an undulated metal skin. Unlike a traditional hangar, it opens to its context through a series of arches, letting in natural light and views. Inside, every space has a specific acoustics related to its function and its ambiance.

MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM in Teulada, Spain by Francisco Mangado

Sunday, April 13th, 2014

Article source: Francisco Mangado

Teulada-Moraira is an unusual urban center. Although it is divided into two separate physical units, Teulada and Moraira, these belong to a single administrative entity. Located in Alicante, in a valley that descends from the mountains to the sea, the city takes full advantage of the two realities, earth and sea, which define its environment and serve as visual references.

Creative Lab in Seoul, South Korea by Hyunjoon Yoo Architects

Ceiling

The design of SCL is mainly focused on the creation of the “space of inspiration”. In order to create such space, the existing low ceiling was replaced by the high ceiling which was finished with the sound-absorbing sponges that would control the temperature of the exposed roof according to the season. By doing so, the inside space is completely soundproofed which fulfills the audible environment of SCL due to various ongoing debates.

Aula Medica in Solna, Sweden by Wingårdh Arkitektkontor AB

Sunday, December 15th, 2013

Article source: Wingårdh Arkitektkontor AB

Strange enough, no large auditorium was built at Karolinska Institutet when its campus was created in the 1940’s. Yes, there were intentions, but the medical university expanded in numbers as well as ranking without any possibility to assemble neither students nor scientists in large numbers. In the beginning of the new millennia, a donation finally made it possible to complete the compound with the venue it needed so long.

Palenque. Sevilla. Expo-92 in Spain by Arquitectos Ayala

Saturday, May 25th, 2013

Article source: Arquitectos Ayala

Palenque: a platform, ring, area or the like, used for different forms of entertainment, surrounded by seats for spectators and made with posts or stakes. The definition above is a good one for an entertainment area which is physically, detached from the tirening atmosphere of the Fair. This is a Fair for the XXI century and, therefore the building must be technologically advanced, but at the same time simple in its form and easy and fast to build.
