The building, which was started to be built as a camping area in 1975 and differentiated by articulation over time, was re-functionalized and designed by THECATWORK to meet the needs of the today by preserving its existing mass.
Currently, the structure, which is located in an area where the distance between the Europe-Istanbul road and the Marmara Sea coastline is narrowing, is placed on the parcel perimeters and consecutively. The structure, which is shaped over the formation of a wide inner courtyard / corridor opening to the sea between these two lines, has taken its final form by being supported by gazebos and hard floor courtyards attached to the front of the rooms over time.
The recently completed Vestre Fjord Park by ADEPT is a recreational learning and experience landscape that generously contributes to the full experience of its unique site by the Danish fjord, the Limfjord. It is the nuanced balance between the natural landscape, the activities and functions and the park’s many daily users that really adds life and local character to Vestre Fjord Park.

SCHAUMAN & NORDGREN ARCHITECTS and SCHAUMAN ARKKITEHDIT are announced winners of the invited masterplan competition for the transformation of waterfront area of Pargas in Finland. The jury awarded the proposal “Pargas Maritime Limestone Landscape” a first prize
The city of Pargas is developing the area of the existing guest harbour in the southern centre of the city – Malmstrand beach – into an attractive living room for the inhabitants as well as a high class harbour with services. At the end of 2016 the city invited three teams to develop a long term vision for the harbour front. The assignment was to find a logical and natural, but at the same time an innovative solution for how the area could become a functional and aesthetically pleasing environment. Together the functions and activities were supposed to create an inviting entity that strengthens the character of Pargas small scale cityscape, while at the same time emphasizing its maritime identity. The proposals were to introduce a solution for how to the functions, such as a hotel. harbour office, sauna, beach promenades, playgrounds, car parking and beach could be integrated into a coherent and strong entity.
Responding to strong and specific data, our proposal for this project purposefully takes into consideration the cultural heritage in which it is set. Situated at terminus of the Damour River, the site is a gently sloping terrain with stupendous views of the Mediterranean and the river. Our proposal utilizes a radical system that is found in several natural formations: a branching configuration. It seemed like the natural solution to gently break down the site’s slope into a series of volumes perfectly oriented to the key sea and river views without obstruction from other buildings. Each “branch” allows direct street access, both pedestrian and vehicular, and soon individual volumes start to emerge following a rigorous strategy of sitting, form and placement in relation to external context, program requirements, and maximized privacy.
Mulini Beach is located in an attractive area of Rovinj, on the exit from the central part of the city and in the continuation of the promenade, in front of hotels Monte Mulini, Lone and Eden, wrapped in a rich green public park and green forest protective areas.
It is an extension of the city’s public area and the promenade whose primary function is to connect the city of Rovinj and park Punta Corrente.
