MaisonBirks, Canada’s leading jeweller founded in Montreal in 1879, , mandated Sid Lee Architecture to revisit its visual identity, redefine its boutique experience, which had until then remained traditional, and develop the first single-brand boutique, where only Maison Birks’ creations would be offered. Two new boutiques were built simultaneously in Quebec (Quartier DIX30) and in Ontario (Mapleview), and were officially opened for business in September 2013.

MICA is a contemporary jewellery house which specialises in custom made pieces. Its name derives from a group of minerals that are characterised by their malleability which makes them ideal for various uses – some which are purely aesthetic. Expanding its most basic and primitive character, MICA’s identity is based on the amorphic nature of the rocks, the asymmetry of their profiles and their unique existence – no two rocks are alike – making all of MICA’s pieces truly unique.
The new logistics centre, located on the E45 motorway at Haderslev, supplies all of the clothing company Bestseller’s boutiques, right across Europe.
The centre has been planned to occupy three parallel bands surrounding a main avenue. Over a long weekend in Austin, Larah sketched and designed the concept for Spartan. For a long and narrow space, storage and display were the main requirements and guests needed to feel free to browse around and not feel confined within the space. Larah solved this by introducing a full length wall of tiered cantilevered shelves with an integrated lip to avoid items from falling and below, a suspended millwork piece for additional back up storage.
Create a new boutique concept for the brand, based on the experience of different environments within the same space, but without losing the unity between them. The proposed route very different from the concept store, because they provoke feelings, instead of only displaying products in line.

De Farine & D’eau Fraîche is a pastry boutique, whose concept is founded on love, naiveté, and escapism. In designing the space, Surface3 sought to capture the essence of pastries and the way we enjoy them in a way that is simple, magical and lasting; from the exchange of pastries as a ritual signifying love and friendship, to the pleasure inherent in simple indulgence.
