The Northern Quarter is a new housing estate in the northern-eastern part of Yekaterinburg. Located in a residential area, the plot neighbours high-rises, private cottages, production facilities and garages.
The master plan from the Dutch LEVS Architecten restores the historical grid of streets, disrupted by industrial and private construction, aligns it and creates a rich environment based on the ‘city within the city’ principle, with variously sized and designed houses, a square, an avenue, numerous shopping facilities and amenities. Brusnika was the project’s contractor and developer.
Kokaistudios’ recently completed architectural renovation project of CITIC SQUARE shopping mall epitomizes Shanghai’s inherent duality. With a futuristic aesthetic combining multimedia elements and some of today’s most sought-after brands, it sits seamlessly alongside one of the city’s best-preserved examples of traditional, historic lane housing. Located in Jingan district on main thoroughfare Nanjing West Road, the transformed building’s pixel-inspired facade and carefully selected materials break the traditional ‘box’ shape to blur the boundaries between city and mall, public and private.
Brusnika develops and builds new housing estates in cities of Russia. However, it is also committed to conserving architectonic heritage related to its projects. This approach restores the historic background of modern districts and enhances place identity. Riverport, a new housing estate under construction in Tyumen, is a vivid example of this trend. Located in the former river port, which marked the history of Siberian steam navigation in the late 19th century, the estate will comprise a total of 15 houses. Public space development, along with the city waterfront revamp will be further endorsed by a multifunctional environment with shops, shopping malls, offices, coffee houses, and restaurants. The estate is due for completion in 2030.
Bar Orian Architects, a leading international architecture firm based in Israel and established by Tal and Gidi Bar Orian in 1990, today officially announces its work for Villa Rothschild, an architectural marvel situated along Tel Aviv’s namesake Rothschild Boulevard.
Villa Rothschild embodies the essence of modern architecture and urban design in Tel Aviv as a perfect example of how the past and present intertwine. The project’s two new buildings were designed as a reflection of one another and a juxtaposition to the Eclectic-era villa that is part of the city’s UNESCO World Heritage Site for Bauhaus architecture-style buildings and sits between the contemporary structures. Together, the three buildings create an additional and contemporary layer in the urban fabric of Tel Aviv, and an example of the architectural development of the city’s new class of residential offerings.
Completed in 2022, Aedas-designed Chongqing Gaoke Group Ltd Office Project utilises a simple elegant form. It is derived from the northern light, which creates the twisting shape of the 180m tall tower to form expressive double-curved surfaces on the building façades. Vertical lines accentuate the minimalistic form and through the effect of reflection and refraction from the glass create a design statement that celebrates light as the major tool to define architecture.
Stands at the north of Xingfu Plaza, the project is located in Jiangbei District of Chongqing. The surrounding environment has already been developed in a spacious plot, and one big challenge for the designer is to interpret planning concept of “solar”, into an iconic landmark well-integrated in the existing community context.
Among all the spaces around man, the most effective one is ‘HOME’ where one can experience a sense of belonging and gets used to it.
The architecture of today’s houses, is just defined and limited among the boundaries used as sleeping spaces, and not a delightful atmosphere, thus this causes some people to lose vitality and dynamism. Meanwhile, by looking at the past, we would find out that with the presence of nature in combination with the houses, life was way different from today.
The theoretical foundation of the LEMAN residential complex
Among all the spaces around man, the most effective one is ‘HOME’.

The City of Antwerp wants to give mobility a more sustainable place in the city and the wider region. The development of a number of Park + Ride buildings is a crucial part of this initiative. As well as improving mobility, the city also seeks to lend a face to the access point to the Antwerp area. Consequently, the Park + Ride buildings are also public gateways through which people enter the region.
The Park + Ride challenge involves various forms of transition, on different scales. These transcend the space of the Park + Ride in itself but do need to be reflected afforded an identity within it.
Located in one of the highest points of the city of Caxias do Sul/RS. The site provides an outstanding view to the downtown’s skyline. The building’s solar orientation is north-south and the main façade is allocated to the south, where is the most interesting panoramama from the appartments. With this conditioning, the living area was designated to the best view, and dormitory to the best insolation and heat.
