The Henry in Illinois by Level Architecture Incorporated

Designed to attract the young, urban, and design-savvy, this 38-unit apartment building is located at the corner of Honore and Montrose Avenue in Chicago, IL, immediately adjacent to the Montrose Brown Line Station. The project consists of one- and two-bedroom units averaging 800 square feet, and provides over 5,000 square feet of leasable retail and restaurant space. Drawing inspiration from the iconic Chicago “El” trains and the remaining manufacturing structures in the area, the building is clad in various metal and brick textures, as if the building were constructed over time, like a small village.

Larkin Street Substation Expansion in San Francisco, California by TEF Design

The newly completed electrical switchgear building is the first Net Zero Energy (NZE) targeted electrical substation building in the United States.  Tucked midblock on Eddy Street between Larkin and Hyde, the steel frame concrete structure is a modern addition to the existing historic 1962 substation building designed by PG&E to supply power to the northeastern part of the city.

Accenture People Hub in Assago, Italy by Park Associati

The alternation of transparency and opacity on the façade provides the double function of protection and perception of the external space.

A blade of glass and steel, resembling a prow pointing north-west, acts as the fulcrum of the Accenture People Hub building’s architectural composition, one of Accenture’s offices in Italy, a project by Park Associati for Milanofiori Sviluppo (Gruppo Brioschi Sviluppo Immobiliare). Comprising fifteen floors above ground and covering a surface of approximately 31,500 square metres, this building is one of the most notable achievements of the Milanofiori Nord sector in Assago.

Transamerica Pyramid Center in San Francisco, California by Foster + Partners

Foster + Partners has been appointed by SHVO, the luxury real estate development and investment firm, to revitalise the iconic Transamerica Pyramid Center in San Francisco. The biggest renovation in the building’s 50-year history, this redevelopment seeks to give a new lease of life to one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks and the second tallest building in the city.  The project will also expand and upgrade the adjacent Three Transamerica (545 Sansome) to a contemporary high-design office building.

Foster + Partners was selected for its prolific expertise in melding historic architecture with contemporary design, following an invited competition including several other celebrated international architectural firms.

Base4Work in Bratislava, Slovakia by Studio Perspektiv & DF Creative Group

There are only a few buildings with industrial history left in Bratislava that have managed to adapt to the current needs. One of them is functionalist building of Jurkovič’s Heating Plant, which has been opened to the public after a three-year renovation as a modern coworking centre – Base4Work from Studio Perspektiv as interior designers. The architectural solution in the form of new interior spaces and new structures is the work of DF Creative Group. The PAMARCH, specializing in the protection and reconstruction of monuments, oversaw the building envelope renovation.

Known for its sophisticated office projects, the Perspektiv architectural studio has completed the second branch of the Base4Work co-working centre inside the Bratislava industrial monument – the first one is located in Prague’s Churchill complex.

Civic Park in Eugene, Oregon by Skylab Architecture

Rising from the ashes of the fire that destroyed the iconic Eugene Civic Stadium, the new Civic Park is designed to reinvigorate the community and initiate a next-generation era of physical education, recreation, and civic connection in Eugene and the surrounding region.

Comprising a new 40,000-square-foot field house, a new civic stadium, and sports fields for the community, the complex will house the first facilities for the nonprofit after-school organization KidSports, one of the instrumental organizations that are part of the park redevelopment.

Parking House in Dolni Brezany, Czech Republic by Fránek architects

The two-storey building completely from reinforced concrete will allow parking up to 200 cars on three levels. On the plan it forms a triangle with one convexly curved side, it follows slope of the land and respects the terrain. The layout contains parking spaces with a ramp and two communication cores. The facade from the north consists of road barriers with ventilation functions.

Vertical Forest City Complex in Huanggang, China by Stefano Boeri Architetti

Easyhome Huanggang Vertical Forest City Complex, located in the city of Huanggang in Hubei province, is the very first Chinese Vertical Forest designed by Stefano Boeri Architetti China, fully completed and already home to the first tenants since a few weeks ago.

It’s a new type of Vertical Forest combining open and closed balconies that interrupt the regularity of the building and create a continuous ever-changing movement, accentuated by the presence of trees and shrubs which thanks to the structure, are able to develop freely in height while the foliage fits perfectly into the façade design.
