In a complicated corner formed by Mexico-Toluca highway and Juan Salvador Agraz street, in the western zone of Mexico City, we were commissioned to design a business hotel with a strong presence to stand out from other hotels on the same street.
Several volumetric exercises were done and we decided to pursue a very sober building with a strong hotel character, at the same time taking care of all the technical aspects to ensure that the hotel was possible in a very noisy Santa Fe area because of the presence of the highway.
Located on Lize Road in southwest Beijing, the Leeza SOHO tower anchors the new Fengtai business district – a growing financial and transport hub between the city centre and the recently opened Beijing Daxing International Airport to the south. The new business district is integral to Beijing’s multi-modal urban plan to accommodate growth without impacting existing infrastructure networks in the centre of the city.
This 45-storey 172,800m² tower responds to demand from small and medium-sized businesses for flexible and efficient Grade A office space Adjacent to the business district’s rail station at the intersection of five new lines currently under construction on Beijing’s Subway network, Leeza SOHO’s site is diagonally dissected by an underground subway service tunnel.

Binet is a new generation of businesses incubator, which incorporates a specific quality of life, expressed by the workspace’s generosity and the facades openings. Its architecture reminds of the daylight factories. Terraces, workspaces, qualitative landscaping, views, multiple orientations … in short, an architecture that transforms urban and programmatic constraints into real assets. The facades of the building open on all sides with large regular bays. The entrance is through the lobby overlooking the garden, on the ground floor.
The project is one of the priority sites of the Urban Renewal Project, on which the City of Paris has decided to strengthen its action.
The competition team was led by Mario Russo, with Amilcar da Rocha Ferreira; Alba Bui with Clément Dupuy, Gregorio Pettoni and Guillaume Piveteau completed the studies; Stefano Lunardi and Adrien Fournier followed the site work.

A new high-rise building makes its impact on the skyline of Hangzhou, the Chinese metropolis with 9 million inhabitants. The 130-meter-high tower is part of the extension and redesign of the GDA Plaza, a business center in the traditional business quarter of the city, which includes a shopping mall and hotel. Architects von Gerkan, Marg and Partners (gmp), who had previously won the competition, were in charge of the design and implementation.
West Lake is considered a focal point and special attraction of the old, traditional city of Hangzhou. Its exemplary cultivated landscape is an outstanding feature of this 9-million-person metropolis to the south-west of Shanghai and, in 2011, was designated a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. At Wulin Square, in the midst of the flourishing business center not far from the lake, the GDA Plaza Hotel and Business Center was reopened. As part of a redesign and extension, the existing complex with hotel and shopping mall was recreated and made into a completely new unit. The architects von Gerkan, Marg and Partners (gmp), who had previously won the competition in 2007, were in charge of the design and implementation. At one cor-ner, the GDA Plaza was substantially extended by a new 28-story building with a gross floor area of 57,500 square meters, whilst the existing main building was retained as far as possible but completely reorganized. This has created additional offices and commercial premises, as well as new leisure facilities such as cinemas and restaurants.

Millennials are China’s most affluent demographic. They are young, wealthy and lifestyle-oriented. Yet they also long to experience nature and to live a sophisticated, artistic lifestyle that transports them away from the world of the fast-paced mega city. So the new sales centre for real estate developer CIFI in Chongqing is more than just an elegant sales space for new-build apartments – it is a symbol of customer desires and an important communication tool for CIFI. The iconic building represents a living concept in harmony with nature and with a sense of gracious spaciousness. Which is why the sales centre is more than just a sales machine; it invites interested parties to enjoy a relaxing and informative visit. Once the real estate sales phase is over, the building can be repurposed as a restaurant or club house.
