On the weekend of October 12th in Joshua Tree, California, artist Phillip K Smith III revealed his light based project, Lucid Stead. What was expected to be a two day event for a handful of viewers, turned into over 400 people making the journey over two weekends. People as far away as New York City and Canada traveled to the California High Desert to experience it. Numerous media sources have asked to do cover stories on the work. Thousands of photos professional and amateur, were taken, posted and shared across blogs and social media sights. In just over 30 days, Lucid Stead officially became a phenomenon.
A wooden cabin with sauna and bedroom on the island of Trossö, Sweden. Two large windows frame the windswept and poetic landscape: the ocean on one side, pines on the other, with a large sliding door effectively doubling the living area when open. The cabin contains a sauna and a 2 person bedroom, living room.The cabin was designed for a couple who spend their summers on the remote island of Trossö, off the west coast of Sweden.
The Rjukan Town Cabin is built by 22 architect students from NTNU, and managed by the student group Rallar Arkitekter. The project is a pavilion meant to be a new and different place to meet for the population of Rjukan. The pavilion is open for everyone at every hour of the day, and contains an exhibition with pictures from Rjukan in the past and present.

Over Het IJ Festival 2012 opened in a temporary shipping container city designed by O+A at the NDSM shipyard in North Amsterdam.
The festival for site-specific theatre performances have been organised at the NDSM shipyard for over two decades. Theatrical artists, both young and experienced, are challenged to employ and investigate the disused shipyard for unique and context-specific performances.
Following the successful refurbishment of The Wing, Cathay Pacific’s flagship lounge at Hong Kong International Airport, the practice has carried the lounge’s sophisticated design into the first class cabin of the Boeing 777-300ER fleet. The project to refresh the award-winning cabin is the first time that the practice has designed the interior and furnishings for a commercial aircraft.
Ranger cabins in Vatnajökull National Park both serve as the ranger’s workplace and home, during the period of duty. The cabins are designed in three different sizes as they have the capacity to be inhabited by 1 – 4 employees. Each cabin has its own workshop. In the Vatnajökull National Park (VNP) there will be a total of 10 cabins. The cabins will be placed in the diverse landscape of VNP. The main objectives of the design was to get simple and robust buildings, that would endure the harsh and ever changing weather conditions.
The opportunity of re-conceptualizing the idea of what the cabin ¨typology¨, is what made this commission very interesting. In a 4 hectares property and an orchard of trees, we had this opportunity.
The clients required two cabins to complement their weekend home, and thus enabling to share their property with their extended family. Simplicity both in the typology as well as the program allowed us to give a more conceptual and less functional approach to develop our ideas.
Spröjs Cabin is a small 40 m2 summer house with a 20 m2 loft to host a normal family of a couple with two to three kids. Although it is fairly small the house includes a kitchen, a living room, a medium sized bathroom and an extra room plus a sleeping loft. The small size and the simple design of the house make it very easy to fit into almost any Scandinavian environment. The interior is however light and modern and very functional to serve the custom-made needs for any particular client.
The project is a winter cabin to be built in a highly restricted area in the mountain landscape of Ål (Norway). The property is situated deep into the mountains and can only be reached by skis during winter. One of the client’s initial wishes was actually to go skiing, sledge riding and winter picnicking on top of the cabin.
