Memory, memories, even bad memory always twist and fly when we work on architectural past, … yes, make a story, choose the tone, cadence, rhythm, accents, a story that naturally coexist with collective memory of the old slaughterhouse of Madrid, with another early report of new application dedicated to the movies while curled up with the forgetfulness of their own recurrent obsessions…
Program: Refurbishment and conversion of an old slaughterhouse into a public cinema center housing a film archive, film and television studio, two cinemas, offices, canteen, and summer film patio
The basic concept of this project was the discourse about the overlapping of open and closed spaces and of public and private areas.
While the movie theaters are located in a mountain-like building, the Center’s public space is shared between an outdoor cinema and a huge public space which is called Red Carpet Area i.e. reception area.

The main idea of the offered solution is transformation of Pushkinsky cinema while preserving its original historical volume. Modern expressive elements «sprout» through the semicentennial structure, symbolically connecting the old and the new by means of the shape and materials.
