Castelo Branco Office Park in São Paulo, Brazil by Girimun Architects

Friday, October 10th, 2014

Article source: Girimun Architects

Taking the 2 existing buildings as a starting point, we have created a phased commercial development with additional 6 office and hotel towers in a total of 240,000 sqm stretching along 500m. The towers are laid out in a soft rotation angle from each other so to allow more space between them, guarantee open views, and create a dynamic outdoor inner space rich in landscape, water features, canopied walkways and supportive retail.  The later twin towers sit on a retail podium that gradually steps up amidst recreational open courtyards to overcome the existing 12m level gap on site.

Friday, October 10th, 2014

Article source: Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF)

“Now that the structural frame is complete, to wander inside a series of curved concrete ribs is something like it must be to see a whale skeleton from the inside. Herman Melville would be inspired.” Design Principal James von Klemperer

On September 26th Tianjin celebrates the Grand Opening of Riverside 66. The 350-meter long megastructrure will now complete the final phase of the He Ping Lu pedestrian boulevard, becoming the centerpiece of the new commercial district while marking its presence monumentally from the revitalized Hai He River and creating a new public experience for the city.“The project itself is conceived of as public space where the building intentionally engages the urban traffic and fosters user interaction,” says Jeffrey Kenoff, Director and Senior Designer at KPF. “Clearly the project needed to operate for a retail and multi program environment, but it also wanted to be a social network to embrace, represent and activate a local community.”

This master plan project located in the Dongcheng District transforms the existing 16.5 ha site into a sustainable high density mixed-used urban park. A one-of-a-kind multi-level pedestrian link cuts through a typical Beijing block linking two major roads, metro and train stations. General Parameters

Oriented from north to south, Integral Iluminación Commercial Building, developed in two diamond-shaped plots with a total building area of 12,701 square feet. One of the requirements of the project was to keep the exterior structure of the existing house (columns, walls and pitched roof) in one of the plots while a new structure proposed for the expansion of the building on the second plot. Considering that Integral Iluminacion sells top of the line lighting and automatization systems, it was extremely important to conceive a cutting edge architectural design that would become an icon for the company.

Sarugaku in Daikanyama, Tokyo by akihisa hirata ,yoshihiko yoshihara

Tuesday, July 15th, 2014

Article source: Akihisa hirata ,Yoshihiko yoshihara

This is a set of the commercial tenant buildings in Daikanyama, Tokyo.
From legal condition it was demanded to build several small volumes in narrow site, and we decided to make several volumes that seemed to be mountains. Thereby valley-shaped space between mountains is formed, where people and displayed things will overflow. Light and wind are taken enough by valley-shaped space, and each shop can enlarge itself on the mountain shaped volumes.
