MCH Messecenter Herning in Denmark by Cubo Arkitekter

Tuesday, September 18th, 2018

Article source: Cubo Arkitekter

With the construction of new buildings, facades and overhangs, as well as upgrading of the outdoor spaces and enhancing the visual expression strengthens the functional and architectural context of Denmark’s largest fair and exhibition area and establishes a new coherent guest experience.

The overall plan establishes a new centre that, with its simple geometry, landscape and planting, structures the entire exhibition area in a simple and clear manner.

Closely integrated with the area in front, the new arrivals building couples directly onto the existing Jyske Bank Boxen. The building will serve as a meeting place, waiting-area and open space for 2.500-3.000 people, and it may also serve as a stage for smaller, independent events.

Delfland Water Authority in Delft, Netherlands by mecanoo architecten

Monday, September 17th, 2018

Article source: mecanoo architecten

The Delfland Water Authority is located in a historical building on the Oude Delft: the Gemeenlandshuis. The monumental part was built in 1505 as a house for Jan de Huyter. The sandstone facade was unique for that time and it was one of the few buildings to survive the 1536 city fire. More than 100 years later, the house came into the hands of the Delfland Water Authority.

Exhibition Center of Zhengzhou Linkong Biopharmaceutical Park in Henan, China by WSP ARCHITECTS

Wednesday, July 25th, 2018

Article source: WSP ARCHITECTS

Zhengzhou Linkong Biopharmaceutical Park is the largest innovative and entrepreneurship base for R&D and production of life science and biotechnology in Henan Province, China. Its innovation, cutting-edge and unlimited potential for development are all important factors for designers to consider.

The curvilinear passage that one can roam about serves as the life axis and connects the north and the south of the park. The exhibition center of elliptical form, whose design is integrated into the central landscape, is located in the center of the axis. Its well-arranged layering and sense of quality make it the landmark building that precedes the construction of the park.

New Spaces for Desjardins at the Montréal Tower in Canada by Provencher_Roy

Wednesday, July 4th, 2018

Article source: v2com

In summer 2018, Desjardins Movement’s online services’ spaces will move to the Montréal Tower. The premises, vacant since 1987, are currently being transformed into office space. The interior design follows the architectural work carried out by Provencher_Roy. Desjardins will be the first tenant and has a 15-year lease. Its call centres and administrative offices will take up seven of the tower’s 12 storeys, or 80% of the rental space available at this iconic site. During the work undertaken in 2015 to refurbish and renovate the tower, which had been planned well in advance by the Olympic Park administration, Provencher_Roy replaced the existing prefabricated concrete envelope with a curtain wall for more abundant transparency and fenestration, thereby augmenting the presence of natural light within while respecting the original architecture.

Go Orthodontistes Brossard Clinic in Canada by Natasha Thorpe

Tuesday, May 1st, 2018

Article source: v2com

Located within a commercial complex, Go Orthodontistes clinic is accessible by a long hallway, which serves as a passageway between the exterior commercial complex and the carefully crafted universe that lies within.

In order to create a cohesive space of total design, it was necessary to conceive the interior space simultaneously with the elements of industrial design. The wood slats inform all interventions and the open layout, with its curved surfaces and reveals, mitigates confusion, favouring openness.

BMLZ Villa Office in Tongzhou District, China by Tsutsumi and Associates

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2018

Article source: Tsutsumi and Associates

This is a building complex for an architectural material company that mainly deals with import carpet and domestic acoustic absorption material. We renovate and expand the existing building which has basement floor and 3 floors above the ground. Because of the difference of ground level, basement floor has open space on its south side, but on its north side it can’t get daylight. We need to carefully design the expanded volume so as not to block the daylight into the existing space. We studied a lot of models, like hollow volumes around central court or several separated volumes, and finally decided upon a simple box. In consequence, on the one hand its volume is just a simple box with a lot of randomly openings on its walls and roof, on the other hand the 4 scattered small courts make the plan complex. Because the openings of the small courts are restrained so that we feel it “inside”, but inside we can see trees and receive enough daylight from toplights so we feel it “outside”, of course the existing area also receive enough daylight. That is to say, the inside and outside are reversed, or those are merged.
