Rosan Bosch Studio has developed a unique interior designed to encourage and support the collaboration and stronger sense of mutual identity between cultural institutions at KulturØen in Middelfart
KulturØen is a place where different cultural activities meet under the same roof – the local library, the local tourist information, the local cinema and café, as well as conference facilities and a restaurant. The implementation of a new spatial design has improved the cooperation between these cultural activities in the space. The design and spatial solutions were implemented in order to inspire staff to coordinate the communication of cultural activities through a theme-based exhibition. This exhibition shows visitors the cultural offerings available within the house.
Since it is the first branch of SM Town and a flagship store, a future-oriented image was depicted on the facade. It is the first case where the patterns of the Celebrity Shop “SUM” are applied for the first time. A unique idea that can help raise awareness of the brand was needed. As such, many thoughts were given to the details and design, including the size of the pattern, the space in between, selection of material and the location of the artists’ names of SM on the facade.
The new (rediscovered) wings of the Hôtel de Galliffet
Mirror reflection: strategy of lightness
The new architectural wings of the Hôtel de Galliffet will be enigmatic and surprising appearances.
Logics of composition, materials and formal repertoire push the architectural bodies towards an expressive vocabulary for which the terms of lightness and permeability prevail.
The strategy of inclusion aims to give the new buildings a kind of perceptive dematerialization; this way proceeding the partial clogging of the courts will assume a character of agreement and co-operation rather than imposition.
The KRONA Knowledge and Cultural Centre enhances Kongsberg’s cultural institutions and stimulates interaction between diverse communities and disciplines. Comprised of a variety of functions, KRONA houses new teaching and technical laboratory facilities for Buskerud University College and Tinius Olsen Technical Vocational College, as well as a technical university library. The complex also includes a public library, cinemas, municipal offices and a theatre auditorium. Its functions are organised around a central void with shared functions, enhancing flexibility and reducing programme redundancy. Using subtle landscape elevations and strategically locating programme access points, visitors intuitively gravitate towards the Centre. Throughout the interior spaces, strong visual connections to public functions further enhance the liveliness of the complex.
Piuarch’s design of the new Ekaterinensky Congress Center in Krasnodar, Russia, has been appointed for construction.
Located on the banks of the Kuban River, the design proposes a three level cultural complex, with a total floor area of 2,840 square meters. The plans include a conference hall with a capacity of 720 seats – which can be set up in different configurations – as a foyer, a restaurant, a bar and service areas, all the while offering a scenic view of the river bay on the side of the city, and a new pedestrian plaza where the entrance to the center will be located.
The building will also feature terraces on the roof and outdoor spaces on the ground floor, which allow for the expansion of the internal functions.
The project has offered Piuarch the opportunity to activate the relationship between the city and the river by designing a connection among the natural water environment, the coastal parks, and the urban area: reconfiguring the city’s interaction with the river.
Transformation of Medellin, education and culture have been the main platform for true social changes, where physical infrastructures are essential in the inclusion of quality policies in areas where state hasn’t been before and low levels of human development are common. These spaces are operated from Educational Ministry and Citizen Culture, seeking mainly to improve the education quality to reduce dropout and repetition rates in early grades in elementary school. This project it’s about how to contribute to citizen encounter, integrating these infrastructures to the city, to its inhabitants and the recovery of public space.
