ADULT EDUCATION CENTRE AND CHILDREN’S PLAYGROUND BUILDING in Torrelavega, Spain by 1004arquitectos

Tuesday, July 21st, 2015

Article source: 1004arquitectos

The building responds to the social demand of the city of Torrelavega of an independent space to accommodate adult school Caligrama, which until now lacked its own headquarters. Located in a deteriorated urban area, the new centre intends to be a connection with the rest of the city, serving as an integration element. A new iconic building that embodies a claim of the city is created as a reference for the future of the region.

The Railway Site in Horsens, Denmark by AFR ThinkingUrban

Saturday, July 11th, 2015

Article source: AFR ThinkingUrban

All too often modern cities are divided up into single use zones like housing or education, or industry. Yet the most successful older communities throughout the world are almost all mixed uses. In addition, the way we move and interact in modern thinking is divided up into a kind of traffic apartheid – walking, cycling, driving.

EDUCATIONAL PARK in Antioquia, Colombia by Farhid Maya (Taller Síntesis) + Lucas Serna (Taller Síntesis) + Arq. Mauricio Valencia + Arq. Diana Herrera

Friday, March 27th, 2015

Article source: Farhid Maya (Taller Síntesis) + Lucas Serna (Taller Síntesis) + Arq. Mauricio Valencia + Arq. Diana Herrera

Vigia del Fuerte is a municipality in Antioquia on the border with the department of Choco, and separated from Bojaya by the Atrato river. It is located in the southernmost part of the subregion of Urabá in Antioquia Middle Atrato area, which corresponds to the tropical rainforest. It is a town with one of the lowest levels of human and social development in the area, with strong conditions in terms of weather, accessibility, and interconnection, within a region that has been hit in the past by public order problems. Despite this, the municipality has lush vegetation and is renowned for its biodiversity and variety of ecosystems, whose potential for the development of the region is beginning to be tapped. For this reason, the Antioquia government decided to make a major investment in the area to strengthen it, an intervention that due to the very conditions of the site is required to disassemble predisposed schemes and operate in a unique way especially considering the region, which is not replicable in any other place of the national territory.
