Since the last decade of the xx century, it has been usual, especially in the old Europe, the commission of projects demanding the conservation, renovation and conversion of constructions from a recent and distant past and from the most diverse typologies, and cultural matrices – This Interior architecture often becomes a field of experimentation for architectural ideas and one of the most challenging themes of the contemporary city. Not only because of urban conditions but also because of historical, social and political demands.

The ‘désir du neutre’ is a ‘pathos’, Roland Barthes would have said, a dream of modern architecture that in today’s context expresses a critical position that is particularly contentious. The desire for neutrality sets itself up in direct opposition to the desires for distinction, for expression, to be symbolic, for a sense of identity or branding. It is a search for a state that suspends the tensions between architecture and its milieu and within the composition of architecture itself. But the desire for neutrality is not neutral. It conveys an ethical and aesthetic commitment which manifests itself not by failing to act or by retreating, but rather by creating strategies and figures that are simultaneously precise and strong.

The mandate of the “Centre de foires de Sherbrooke” (Exhibition Center of Sherbrooke) conducted by CCM² – Côté Chabot Morel Architects includes site analysis, the design of the site plan and the floor plans, the volumetric studies, the materials selection, the establishment of the performance criteria s and a constant support as a specialized external resource for the City of Sherbrooke until the complete realization of the project. The expertise and qualifications of CCM² Architects are well recognized in the community to carry out such projects. For several years, CCM² Architects have done several feasibility studies, conceptual works, analysis and construction of exhibitions centers in Quebec (Quebec City and City of Laval in Canada).

Interior architect Aino Kavantera, and product and exhibition designer Federica Capitani, have designed the first Fin Noir exhibition, which took place at the “Passage du desir” gallery in Paris during SS12 Fashion Week (4-16 October).
The two designers met in 2005 whilst working at Marcel Wanders Studio in Amsterdam and have since collaborated on a number of design projects as well as worked on their own. Fin Noir is their most recent collaboration.

The fold, as a multi-layered metaphor for the relationship between mind and matter, inspires plis/replis. The installation is made up of a highly geometric, folded and suspended structure that amplifies the experiences and metaphors of champagne. The primary structure, a 10 x 10 x 12m cone suspended in a pyramid, underground cave (a “crayères”) – one of the largest crayères of Vranken-Pommery’s 18km long underground system of corridors and caves dating back to Roman times. This architectural augmentation of the space also serves as a functional loud speaker. A glass platform suspended at the focal point within the cone holds a vessel filled with champagne. Using the actual sounds of effervescence picked up by a special microphone immersed in the champagne vessel, a real-time analysis/synthesis audio system creates a continually evolving sound environment, diffused downward from above.

The showroom of the new Light Center Speyer, situated in a factory building, was to be designed as exhibition space, consulting area and meeting place. Here, a frame generating interior design synergy effects was to be created for all latest light trends, technologies and light designs. Its sophisticated structure was to build the backbone of the entire light exhibition, but at the same time was never to overshadow the priority of the lighting objects to be exhibited.
The Austrian Pavilion at the EXPO 2008 in Zaragoza was designed by an interdisciplinary team formed by SOLID architecture, Michael Strauss and Scott Ritter. For the EXPO 2008 the participating countries rented spaces in buildings provided by the organizer. The room made available for the Austrian pavilion had a semi-circular shape. The central idea of the design concept was to double that shape to the figure of a cylinder by using a floor-to-ceiling mirror. This mirror extended along the length of the room and doubled a digital 180° projection on the curved interior wall into a 360° panorama. By means of digital projection the panorama underwent permanent changes.

KOBE ART BIENNALE Art in a Container International Exhibition
Through an art history occasionally bound to the outside world, Japanese developed an ability to absorb and reformulate elements of foreign culture to complement their aesthetic preferences. Eventually more pervious, Japan shared its heritage with the rest of the world, hence representing one of the utmost place dedicated to art.
Customer’s program was clear and well defined. The building should include an exhibition hall at the ground floor and a loft on the first level; as well as become the image of Maison Passion. The location near by a highly frequented artery inspired the project’s dynamic. The sequence of the vertical wooden boarding became a noise shield frontage designed along the road. The extension,s screen frontage made of thin and spaced out wood, give homogeneity to the existing volumes, heterogeneous and obsoletes, creating a succession of plans more or less translucent. It let see though the background shapes and lift up like a curtain to create the principal entrance of the exposition hall.
The city of Korla has announced that inFORM studio has been selected as the winner of an international design competition for the Civic Cultural Exhibition and Activity Center in Korla, China. It will be a symbol of a progressive future for the region of Xinjiang. The conceptual proposal embraces the master plan vision for an axial relationship of cultural buildings and a strong east/west pedestrian linkage through the site; it also responds intelligently to the climate, geological heritage, ecology, and contextual views and relationships.
