Area Three Art Museum in Beijing, China by CUN Design

Monday, June 25th, 2018

Article source: CUN Design

Louis Kahn has said that if you fill your mind with something that does not belongs to you, they would never stay in your brain; you would forget them, and you would lose the awareness of defining your self-worth. His spirit in the architecture has been summarized by John Lobell in the book Between Silence and Light.

In my point of view, Louis Kahn has found a calm answer for each question he asked in architecture. He never went with the flow but thought more about design and himself. As a designer, the most important thing is to think beyond the box and create new possibility, not always stay stereotyped or even duplicate work from others.

Museum of Life and Science in Durham, North Carolina by in situ studio

Wednesday, May 16th, 2018

Article source: in situ studio

The woodland classroom building is located in a forest on the south side of the Museum’s campus. The building is a flexible space for science learning that blends indoor space with the surrounding natural environment. The stand-alone restroom building is located on the north side of the Museum’s campus, within a new outdoor exhibition area called Hideaway Woods, just up the trail from a Patrick Dougherty sculpture. We worked with the Museum of Life and Science to master plan these portions of their expanding campus and locate these small structures to minimize disturbance to the surrounding environs and, in the case of the woodland classroom, maximize connections with the natural environment.

Stage of forest in Jilin, China by META-Project

Wednesday, February 28th, 2018

Article source: META-Project

Stage of Forest, located at Songhua Lake Resort in Ji Lin,is situated on a hillside between the forest and the slope. The site is surrounded by luscious greenery in summer and covered by an overwhelming white snow in winter. As is a delicate site for a “Land(scape) Mark”, one whose indefinite programming demands a careful degree of deliberation. The location and triangle shape of the “stage” was only determined after precise examination and deduction of the site condition, to minimize the impact for the existing vegetation and to maximize the view on the platform. While sitting on the hill, it is facing the Songhua lake at a distance, who is famous for the rime in its surrounding areas.

Friday, February 2nd, 2018

Article source: B.L.U.E. Architecture Studio

This project is located on the first floor of Infinitus Tower by the shoreline of Taiping Lake in Shanghai. As the weathervane of street fashion, DOE represents noncomformist qualities, being both classic and trendy, vintage and modern. Based on the Street Culture branding of DOE, the design of the store introduces the concept of street and city. As the store opens up to the street, bringing in urban landscape, the boundary between inside and outside is dissolved.
