Sunday, August 16th, 2015

Article source: Guillaume Mazars Architecture

Project for a kiosk on the lakefront of Chicago.  Waterfronts are special places. A meeting point between earth and sea, the horizon is exposed. More than elsewhere the sky is present, it illuminates and color permeates the place. The project aims to exacerbate this feeling by framing the views and accentuating the light of the moment.

The new Museo Novecento in Florence, Italy by Avatar Architettura

Wednesday, July 1st, 2015

Article source: Avatar Architettura

The new Museum of the Twentieth Century (Museo Novecento), dedicated to Italian art of the twentieth century, is housed in the old Hospital of San Paolo in Piazza Santa Maria Novella in Florence, Italy. Avatar Architettura was responsible for the museographic and exhibition design of the Museo Novecento. The project defines the museum setting as a suspended space. Visitors come upon it through lively devices for spatial meditation which, placed at the start of the exhibition path, on the first floor of the cloister, introduce them to contemporary experiences and artistic research. While the entrance is characterized by a clearly recognizable architectural solution, Avatar Architettura created the rest of the path as a sort of “suspended space.” More neutral, but physically present and material, the setup of the rooms starts with the metallic floor and continues in the panels that emerge from the walls in some of the rooms.

The International Horticultural Exposition 2014 opened in Qingdao on April 25th; the two service centers, “Heavenly Water (Tianshui)” and “Earthy Pond (Dichi)”, are named after the two extant lakes on Baiguo Mountain where the buildings are respectively located.  As the primary architecture of the Expo area, the buildings undertook multiple functions including circulation hub, activity center, restaurant, recreational landscape, cultural communication, exhibition, etc.  Considering the distinctive nature of the architecture and its geographical location, the following unique relationships require particular design treatments.

Song-chu Bending Band in Gyeonggi, Korea by L’EAU design Co., Ltd.

Friday, March 20th, 2015

Article source: L’EAU design Co., Ltd.

Self-mapping through topological setting
Songchu plantation does not have an unsure master plane yet except a worthwhile purpose. This land has to be prepared to be used for multi-purpose accordingly. In other words, it needs architectural structures that organize self-mapping through topological setting rather than a development that constructs a large building to be used for the only planned purpose.
