ILUSTRARTE 14, Biennial International Exhibition of Children’s Books Illustration in Lisbon, Portugal by Pedro Cabrito + Isabel Diniz architects

PLAYGROUND

For this Ilustrarte 14, we have crossed illustration for children with the playful and creative dimension of the act of playing, in a solution that explores the formal features of the famous colorful toy blocks, timeless in its simplicity and potential for discovery.
It is noteworthy that the first concept model has been literally assembled using a set of blocks bought at a toy store.

These objects remain recognizable and communicative, extracted from the everyday iconography, transforming banal into an exercise that brings us closer to the creative process of illustrating.

PRESENCE OF VOIDS by atelier rzlbd

Where we are is where things are not. We inhabit the blankness, and we observe the limitations. We allow the presence of physique distract us from our own imagination. We welcome their dictatorship as they rule our ways of life. But let us all fly over the cuckoo’s nest and “be” not the prisoners of objects.

Giving Warmth to the Building Skin-The World of Gio Ponti, Father of Modern Italian Design in Tokoname, Japan by TORAFU ARCHITECTS

Friday, December 6th, 2013

Article source: TORAFU ARCHITECTS

We designed the space for an exhibition “Giving Warmth to the Building Skin-The World of Gio Ponti, Father of Modern Italian Design” at INAX MUSEUMS in the city of pottery, Tokoname, Aichi prefecture, Even though Ponti is a modernist, he explores architectural surfaces, integrating hand craft work into machine production in order to communicate “feeling of skin,” such as its texture and warmth. Four themes: “Interior wall,” “Window” “Floor” and “Exterior wall” were keys to the interpretation of the exhibition. By making excellence use of co-located Monozukuri Koubou laboratory crafting technique, we have attempted to duplicate Ponti’s tile work.
